Not even close on that lucic deal. This is implying the difference in value between Lucic and Zuccarello is just Samorukov and a 3rd........ teams wouldn't take Lucic and a 2nd back for nothing in return at the moment.

Hard to say what Lucic's value is right now. NHL GM's value intangibles and name-recognition more than most of us armchair GM's do, and Lucic has those in spades. TBH, other than the back half of the season last year, Lucic has lived up to his contract. It's the term that has everyone worried.

I agree its tough. The price to take him on has to be worth that teams while though. That is a lot of money coming back for little return on it . Same goes for Bobby Ryan's contract only a little worse. There's a reason Ottawa is using Karlsson's crazy value to try and get Ryan off the books as well. Its just about the only thing that could work.

Have to realize Zuccarello also only has 1 year left on his contract.
