Probably right. But I dont know what choice he may have at a certain point in regards to money. Assuming Smith goes on LTIR or retires...

Nothing Outrageous
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Boltsradynasty</b></div><div>did Kane's deal with SJ get reinstated? if not wtf would san jose get involved with him?</div></div>
Rumor has it, the NHL does not want the precedent set that a team can just cancel a players deal, and is forcing SJ to make a deal to move him as a form of settlement. This is why the arbitrator and the case has been delayed, Kane has acted the model citizen since this all happened and was found not guilty of breaking any border travel rules. So good chance the player wins the case anyways. And Yes, SJ does not want him back and would probably get a deal done quick to rid themselves of him, even in a retained salary deal. Sharks are not in a strong position in the whole thing.

HAHA, sign me up!
But Ducks vehemently say no. Bob Stauffer has alluded before that it would take "Five significant pieces" to land Gibson. is (Yammo, Broberg, Bourgault, a 1st, and a 2nd?)
And thats without Anaheim taking back Kassian and Koskinen.

TDL Moves
I think the Chicago-Edm deal is right about where the Oilers need to go, the 2nd in 2022 probably needs to be in 2023 since the 022 pick could end up already being Chicago's if Keith meets the right requirements haha. Also think a prospect from Edm (Savoie or similar) would need to be going back to Chicago, maybe Konovalov as well.

Shoulda titled this "PipeDream". Haha. I like it. But no way these things happen. Only one that is a maybe would be the Manson deal. But Ducks would want a 1st rounder ie David Savard.

Ken get a goalie
Probably a close deal there. Dont see Chicago taking Kassians money back tho, and doubt Smith goes back the other way. More likely Koskinen with the bigger contract. But the prospects and picks are probably appropriate, tho I wonder if maybe one of them would be conditional on him signing here...

Which Goalie is gonna Work
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>Being realistic let’s narrow the list by
1- remove anyone with clauses that has only played in the states history unfortunately strongly suggests those are in place to prevent a move to Canadian city.
2- remove anyone with term because let’s face it smith is here till his deal expires and skinner must be on the team next year.
3- remove anyone that is unlikely to be moved because playing a big role for playoff team looking at husso there.
When go threw this process think it becomes clear the pool is much shallower than most suggest when saying oilers need to do something in net. There isn’t any clear “upgrade” I’d say smith and skinner provides the most realistic and best tandem down the stretch if kosk gets moved to facilitate a trade to bolster the d or depth scoring.</div></div>
I guess my thinking is this. You are right on all accounts, however, there is always a price to which these things can change. Like. Say Husso for example. At a certain point, if the offer is good enough, STL still makes that trade.
As for the NMC American stuff, Canada's restrictions for Covid are all starting to lift now, so I feel like players may soften their stances on that. As well as, McDavid factor may sway some people to a degree as far as the Oilers being a potential contender. Last night against the Lightning be a prime example of, if the Oilers had the goaltending, the beat one of the NHL's elite...

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Campabee</b></div><div>I feel like you are basing you opinion of Allen on his and the teams play before the coaching change. Would you have even believed for a second that Montembeault was capable of playing lights out hockey before the change? I wouldn't have and I would have waived him long ago if ot weren't for us needing a goalie. Now I wouldn't trade him for anything less than a 2nd or 3rd and even that is debatable depending on how Allen plays behind the rejuvenated team. We potentially have a Star starter (Price) a good NHL tandem 1B (Allen) and a very good NHL backup (Montembeault). Even if we do trade Allen our goalie depth would not be depleted. Allen is due back before the TDL so we will see how many games he gets in and if his play also has picked up.</div></div>
TBH I think you essentially agreed with everything I said. Haha. His numbers are bad because of how bad MTL has been. But he also isnt a legit starter. thats Price.

Ya I think if the Oilers are giving up Pulju in this deal, Koskinens whole contract is also going to Chicago. And Hawks might even need to throw in a Kubalik or something along those lines.

Almost all of Turris' contract can be buried in the minors ($1.1M of the $1.65M). And he is a UFA at season end so not a big worry there.
The 2nd is probably enough for a team to take Kassian straight up I would think.
As for Kessel, you might not get him for two 3rds that arent in the next draft...
Just dont know if the Oilers want to be using up all these draft picks on another scoring fwd, when they need to upgrade D and G more...

I actually think that it would take less to get Kessel. Obvs the Coyotes would need to retain and take back salary, but I have a feeling someone is going to add him for pretty cheap at the deadline
