If Kane’s deal gets reinstated with San Jose, they aren’t taking back cap in any deal, they don’t have the space. And I don’t see them moving Kane for a bad return like that either

retaining 2.8 for 3 years, a D who hasn’t played in 2 years and might not who is essentially cap dump a LW we don’t need and is essentially a cap dump and a mid level LD prospect??? why would the sharks do this?
Kane 2 mil retained for your 23 1st would be more than fair, this deal is atrocious.

Rumor has it, the NHL does not want the precedent set that a team can just cancel a players deal, and is forcing SJ to make a deal to move him as a form of settlement. This is why the arbitrator and the case has been delayed, Kane has acted the model citizen since this all happened and was found not guilty of breaking any border travel rules. So good chance the player wins the case anyways. And Yes, SJ does not want him back and would probably get a deal done quick to rid themselves of him, even in a retained salary deal. Sharks are not in a strong position in the whole thing.

Holland won't make the same mistake again signing an aging, decrepit goaltender to a two year deal. Holtby is banged up.

Probably right. But I dont know what choice he may have at a certain point in regards to money. Assuming Smith goes on LTIR or retires...

This is 100% incorrect. If San Jose retains Kane's right they will need to trade him for pennies on the dollar or be stick with a $7MM AAV for a player who will never play for their organization again.

The sharks also didn’t terminate him for no reason he broke the rules. Of course they should fight, the league literally backed their decision

Great, if we don’t find a deal that doesn’t suck we will stick him in the AHL where he will fail to show up and we can terminate again.

There’s zero chance they retain that money and trade him for nothing like here. You don’t think there would be multiple teams interested in Kane for 3x3.5-4 mil? He was on pace for 42 goals in the regular season. He won’t go for pennies like you say.
