*Some no name defense drafted over 2 years ago and still playing in the WHL....for the best young goalie in the AHL.....stupid trade for the Leafs

It's people like you who make those trade scenarios up. Pretty sad stuff.

Add a first and its a good starting point but I would think Jake bean is an untouchable. Hard to remember every player but pretty sure he dominated the bchl.

Bean is one of the top defensive prospects in the league. Probably looks more like: Sparks, 1st round pick, for Bean

Can we please try to remember that these are supposed to be fun, no GM in history didn't originally suggest a trade that didn't massively favor their own team. Thats the whole point. Lets use this as a starting point and have a real conversation that makes sense.

Lets start by saying that the leafs are now flush with goal tending with Sparks and Pickard, I think we can all agree this is where Carolina is lacking. It also goes without saying Leafs need RHD, which Carolina has. There is a trade to be made here, if the leafs value is off, that is fine. That being said, Bracco has done great where ever he has played, Sparks and Pick were top AHL goaltenders, there is definitely value here.

So again, instead of getting nasty, maybe we can just have fun with this?

Bean was a 1st round pick and sparks is 25 with 3 times more echl games than nhl. Delusional

They're are a lot of children and teens who are fans as well. And will probably make post not as good as others. Did you pop out the womb knowing everything? Funny how only Buffalo and Montreal fans seem to point out mistakes and crap on them. Hmmm wonder why. Being prejudice and stereotypical says more about you then it does about the posters.

I've seen them plenty ..... 99% of the time it's just non Leaf fans saying "Leaf fans think they can make this ridiculous trade".

But I virtually never see those kinds of trades on the Leafs Armchair GM teams.

And it doesn't help that every imaginable Leaf trade gets the exact same response in the comments...."it's Marner or Nylander or no chance the trade is happening".

Yeah...no one's getting Marner or Nylander for a Tanev, Myers, Muzzin, Hjalmarsson, Bean, etc, etc, etc....GM's wouldn't even ask something so silly.

Bean was a 1st round pick and sparks is 25 with 3 times more echl games than nhl. Delusional

- but Sparks WAS the best goalie in the AHL last year (by a significant amount).
- and Bean WAS NOT the best defense-men in the WHL last year (even though he's 20 and was playing against most 17 - 18 year olds).
- Bean definitely WAS a 1st round pick in 2016....but clearly HASN'T lived up to expectations thus far (he wouldn't have been in junior this year if he had).
- There are PLENTY of high draft picks that didn't pan out (the Leafs drafted Gauthier in the middle of the 1st round....is Gauthier still a top prospect?).

Sorry but if a player doesn't keep improving, they don't magically keep their 13th Overall value.....Bean is 20 and has 2 men's pro-leagues between him and the NHL.

He can't even dominate the boys in junior at the moment (meanwhile Sparks was by far and away the best goalie in the AHL .... for reference the AHL > ECHL > NCAA > WHL).

When and if Bean starts dominating the AHL .... he'll get some of his value back.

As a comparison....Liljegren was a 16th overall pick in 2017 .... and was a top-pairing D-man in the AHL this year .... at 18 (youngest D in the league) .... so he's retained a lot more of his 1st round value than Bean has. Meanwhile .... Panarin wasn't even drafted .... and remarkably .... has more value than Yakupov .... who was drafted 1st overall.

And unfortunately .... that's a knowledge check mate.

You called sparks a great young goalie. Hes not. Hes 25. Being good in the AHL doesnt mean much. Bean is 20 and was just on world jrs for Canada. You called him a no name.

Move along

I fail to see your point?

Being good in the AHL doesn't mean much....
Being good in the WHL and making the a World Junior team at 20 means a ton.....

Flawless Logic.

BTW most goalies don't become regular NHL'ers until their mid-twenties....when players are already in their prime.

Freddy Anderson had to be drafted a 2nd time in his early 20's.....Tim Thomas made the NHL in his 30's and then won Stanley Cups + Vezina Trophies.

Haha well I sure started a **** storm here people. Ok, it is plausible I could be a tad short on my trade proposal. I definitely think an additional 1st round pick is too much for Bean. But probably somewhere in between there is a happy medium for both teams.

Garrett sparks is 7 years from his draft year and has 17 nhl games. Anderson has 257 8 years from his 1st draft and 6 years from his 2nd draft. Nice try. Even guys like ullmark etc have more nhl games. Hes a minor leaguer
