The only way I would even thinking about making this trade if I am the Penguins is if they plan on resigning Karlsson. If not why the hell would they want to lose all that for a season worth of Karlsson???

Of course. Those talks would be happening as the trade was happening. That goes with every team reaching out to Karlsson's camp.

the only way the Pens can afford Karlsson is by trading Letang.
Furthermore, than have been reported issues on Karlsson's health.

Then I don't understand the point of having the conditional pick stating only if Karlsson resigns. Kinda pointless to have that if you're only making the deal if he resigns.

When he gets 10m+ and even thats a probable discount next year and we cant afford him this trade is gonna be painful.
