There isn't a GM in the world that takes Weber's contract, let alone someone who gives up what amounts to two first rounders, a 2nd, and a top 6 dman.

How high was Waddell when he accepted that awful trade? Honestly wouldn't trade Necas and a 1st for Weber, Carolina has all the pieces and just need to wait, definitely do not need an aging, overpriced defenseman who in 3 years time won't be good enough to start on a good Carolina team.

Honestly, I think Bergevin is one of the best GMs in the league for the excellent rebuild that he is starting.

I disagree. (Variation on an old Fawlty Towers joke: "Oh, no, sir, I will not have that. This isn't the worst hotel in England. I know a hotel in Bournemouth that's worse.") Ottawa trades a 6th round pick for Montreal's 2nd rounder in 2019 and Shea Weber in order to reach the cap floor after trading away Stone, Karlsson and Duchene. See? There IS a gm who would do that.

Hahaha, yeah...Ottawa is definitely a dumpster fire...

And I've seen people on here trade him to get teams to the cap floor, like Arizona.

But who's looking at their team saying "Hey, we're going to struggle to get to the cap floor until 2026, so let's take this declining asset and his huge cap hit to get us there? Even Arizona are slowly building their payroll up. There are a ton of bad 1, 2 or 3 year contracts that teams have shown that they're willing to move a heck of a lot more than a 2nd rounder to get rid of. What kind of message does that send to your fan base? That you're unwilling to spend any money on the team for the next 8 years?
