I'm not sure if Pittsburgh is better with Gallagher/Leddy than they are with Hornqvist/Maatta. Plus, they would also be out Jarry, hallander and Simon. Not bad values for the most part, but overall Pittsburgh is lessened by these deals.

How do you figure That? Gallagher had 31 goals last season and Hornqvist has only put up 30 1x in his entire career. I think Gallagher is a better fit on Crosbys wing as well. Hornqvist is a possession nightmare w that dump n chase he does plus Gallagher is younger and less expensive. Leddy is better offensively and a way better skater. Since the Pens have Oleksiak n Johnson now, I think Maatta and his sluggish skating and poor decisions w the puck hurt the team and they aren't trading away 2 guys the just signed to contracts. Jarry would have already secured the back up role by now, especially over DeSmith. I just don't want to see happen to him like w Pouliot (a high draft pick that they could have gotten something worthwhile for instead of developing him poorly and making him worthless as trade bait).

If the NHL was a pure goal scoring contest then your argument works, but it's not, so it doesn't. Gallagher would be doing "that dump n chase" if he come here too, because that is not a Hornqvist thing, it is a Sullivan thing. You've traded away Maatta in basically every one of these that you have made, so there is no point even discussing him.

I didn't say that they were train wreck deals, I just said that I wasn't sure that the Pens would be better with the flip of the main 4 pieces, and that with the additional pieces I think that the Pens are lessened.
