Manson is Anaheims no1 defender and they are not moving him for another LHD who would be their 3rd best along with 1st rounder..

I agree with all but the Manson Maatta debate. Manson is really good. But the value overage of Sprong over first and brassard over cogs make up for it.

I know that very well.. Sprong hasnt got much value outside Pittsburgh tho. Its like Kapanen in Toronto.. Id say Silfverberg=Brassard and Manson(in terms of value)=Sprong+Määttä. That 1st rounder should do nothing there..

Maatta is a far better Offensive player of the 2. Maatta is also better with the puck and passing in and out of own zone. Manson is def a more physical player even tho Maatta has been getting more physical every year but defensively they mite be equal. Speed wise Manson has the edge but skating backwards they are equal.

Manson is coming off a 37 point season vs Maatta's 29. So I wouldn't say far better, if even better at all. I like Olli but Manson would be my preferred choice. One hes right handed, two, like you said, hes faster. Being faster is kindof a good thing to be at the moment in the NHL.

Kapenen has nowhere near the scoring pedigree Sprong has, but I get what youre saying about the value outside of Pitt. And a -40 point average winger and a 40+ point average center are absolutely not equal.

dont disagree but pens defensive play was very suspect last year. Even the year prior with the cup win, our defense was not that solid. while maata has a higher ceiling and can bring that offense play, burners on the outside toasts him every time. The speed of the game is picking up every year and the Pens need Skaters. Also Kesler and Perry trending down they would look for some new offensive talent like Brassard and Sprong which could look to give a 1st round for.
