Description
They can afford him. Have more than enough resources to expend (probably giving up too much in this deal). They are a strong up and coming team that could be seriously dangerous with the addition of EK, giving them star power on the back end to go with their star power up front.

But the additional details say an extension must be in place which means Karlsson is NOT rental player for them. So I agree with Nucks17, Karlsson would cost more than that. And while it seems likely, there is ZERO guarantee of Ottawa's 2019 pick is top 3.

I agree with TC and nucks. There probably needs to be a roster player coming back. I could see it being Barrie, OTT 1st and a good prospect (not a top 5)

The Avs will just keep the picks and Timmins. EK already said he wouldnt sign an extension here. We are not giving up valuable pieces for a rental. If we want, we can revisit it when he is an UNRESTRICTED FREE AGENT. where it only costs $$$$ for him to sign. We will have over 30 million in cap space with only Z and Rants to sign.
