The Ultimate Embarrassment? Leafs Sign Mark Stone to Bobby Ryan's Contract

Created by: burla13
Team: 2019-20 Toronto Maple Leafs
Initial Creation Date: Aug. 25, 2018
Published: Aug. 25, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
1. Oh my lord its feasibly possible.
2. Would this end the Sens Franchise, their would be captain, if not for being an embarrassing organization signs with the biggest rival, to win many Stanley Cups, for the exact dollar of a contract that could cause the Erik Karlsson trade to not get max return.
Dubas would be a heartless genius, thank goodness he has a brain that 4 other Canadian GMs could use.

Your thoughts and don't tell me it won't fit because when Patrick Marleau suffers a strain and instead decides to work in the leafs front office on LTIR, I will laugh at you.

The power of not having bad contracts, I laugh about giving Stone the Ryan deal because it would just be poetic to how the franchises are moving, but with a full 23 man roster and 3 million in cap, they could offer him 8.5

I do not know if this is in the plan, but if Dubas wnts to have the greatest 1 2 3 center and right wing depth of the last 20 years, it is actually possible.

That is 3 first lines and a good Third line on many teams.

One star for caring more about embarrassing a rival than building your own team. You actually sound like you hope their team moves away? Rude and uncool.

WISELY!!! Woooow 1 sec
Komorov 3 million
Matt Martin 2.5 million
Filpula 2.75 million
Andrew Ladd 5.5million
Please please tell me that you are happy to spend 13.75 million on those 4 players instead of Tavares. I am off today and I want to see this argument.

You want 4 players with a combined career high in points of top 2 seasons ever of 66 points for Filpula in 2012 (that seems a while back)
And 62 point for Ladd in 2015 that last year had 29.
Make the argument this is a better use of money than 84 point player, captain, Olympian john Tavares.
And to be fair I could take out Filpula and have it be 11 vs 11 but I thought I would give you at least a career high of 66. I await and am excited for the response.

Where did I say the Isles did a good job of spending the Tavares allotment money? Try reading again. My quote was " And the Isles they have to spend the 11m they had allotted to Tavares wisely on other players."

Please, don't tell me reading is one of your strengths. I await and am excited for the response.

Please, please tell me.

....Komarov, 3m per year for guy who was headed by to Finland... it's outlandish. Martin...surprised Lou didn't put the squeeze on the Leafs more since the Leafs wanted cap space. Ladd's contract was awful from day one (before Tavares left). Had nothing to do with Tavares money
I'm just saying, it's up to team to spend their cap wisely.
For instance lets imagine, the Leafs don't match the 15m Arizona offers Tavares next summer (imagine). the Leafs have to figure out how to spend the 11m they had allotted for Matthews.
Maybe it's almost like a trade. Matthews for Karlsson (signed for 11m), and the Leafs have Arizona's four first rounders.

No that was Brian the Brian Burke, saying he would move heaven and earth to get the # 1 pick overall. Leafs eventually Reilly # 5 that year. Take a look at the Reilly and Burke with the post pick handshake. Burke looks so unhappy. He couldn't pull off the deal, despite being the smartest person in the world.

HAHAHAHAHAHA HOT TAKE ALERT.
I'll make sure to timestamp this one when the Leafs have a cup and the islanders pick in the bottom 5 for the next 5 years.

Offense can only get a team so far - Isles had 3rd best offense in hockey and picked lottery. Good luck with that defense of yours

Your exact words

. And the Isles they have to spend the 11m they had allotted to Tavares wisely on other players.

They spent it. Was that wise? Yeah they saved 11m hooray! Looked how they used the money they had for Tavares that's embarrassing you are paying 3 4th liners instead of a number 1 center, it doesn't make sense.

But thank you for the back and forth, it got my brain churning on a Saturday morning!

Actually not what I said. @palhal said that, and he's completely correct. But the thing is, the Isles didnt spend the Tavares allotment. They made the signings/trades they were planning on making with the other $16m in cap room. They still have Tavares money available.

Thank you my friend, we will take the good luck and start the brightest chapter in the history of the franchise.
Good luck with 3 4th lines and Barzal no longer being sheltered, I hope he continues to be a ppg player with Tavares getting 57% of teams best defenders.
I'm sure when Bazal faces 75% of other teams best players that he keeps doing well, and I'm not being facetious, because I watched him in junior and he is a delight, but when he no longer has sheltering it will be tough.
Now imagine Auston Matthews with that sheltered advantage now.
Because when you come to TO Barazl is playing Naz
Meaning Tavares is against Brock Nelson
Matthew's plays Filpula.
I'm sure it will be a close game. Good matchups and that's Leafs D will be a real problem.

Once, a team "loses" that 11m in free agency, it often difficult to spend the money wisely in that year. As you suggest the Isles will still have that money in the future, and it's up to Lou and friends to spend wisely,
Though Tavares left Isles for his hometown. Long Island is still a desirable place to live. Isles shouldn't have any trouble enticing players, especially when the team gets better.

I can't believe lou was trashed by someone on here. His next step was to build a great D group for the leafs to bring them the cup. That's over now. The leafs are still going to lose in the 1st round to the Islanders next year. Komorov scores the game winner in game 6 in O.T and Lou smiles at you.

This team bares a odd semblance to the 2014-15 Islanders that made the playoffs and took the Caps to 7. All three games will be close.

Komorov 4 years.
Common if you are a player who wants to win so you sign with the team who gave Komorov 4 by 3 common you cant go that. He is not a good player. It is a literal waste of cap and shows one of the reasons why Shanahan had no problem with watching Lou walk because you can not spend your money taht way.

The leafs are going to be good for a long time because yeha dont have bad contracts.
The islanders will spend same amount this next 4 years as the Oiler do with Draisaitl 8.5
Only they have Andrew Ladd and Leo Komorov. FOR 4 YEARS.
Like common that is just a waste of money. If they have Komorov 1 year and then retained at the deadline and traded him to a stupid team like Edmonton who would make the playoffs and trade for a Komorov at the deadline to get hard work and playing experience.
You could get a 4rh for Komorov and say nice.
But you gave a bad player an untradeable contract. Is taht not the worst thing a GM can do.

People we are on cap friendly, like by that logic right there, that which Komorov signed I think each one if us would chirp the guy who did that. Gave him that money at that term, that was done by a gm in the league.

I'll take Leon Draisaitl 8 5 or Marners 8 instead of those 2 4th liners.

That's to replying to my post , # 27. You seems to snarkey even but fail to be able to read other folks comments constructively. I am enjoy banter and different type of discussion even abrasive ones. You seem to be gone beyond trolling. Thanks for the "ignore" feature.

Woah, you'd rather have Leon Draisatl instead of two fourth liners? Thats logic I cant even argue with

So if you agree why did Komorov get that deal?

If this happens I will give you full credit because that's a heck of a bold prediction, I hope you know that Islanders would have to make the playoffs meaning that they have to score more than the team they are playing.

But you are right if Leo returns to his 15-16 all-star form of 19 goals and 36 points, I guess in theory this could happen.

To anyone else who is afraid to criticize Lou Lamerello, that's pretty sad I cant call a poor move a poor move.
If the Leafs signed him to that term at any money people would have just destroyed it.
Because a guys been a GM for 30 years I can't call a bad contract a bad contract, that seems pretty sad.
I also would have figured that since losing Niedermier in 2006 he has not had success, but the player that was let go won a cup.
