Spezza won’t waive. He already said he doesn’t wanna play in a Canadian market. But the value is there and it’s fair. Maybe swap him out for Hanzal and add in an additional pick?

I just did a google search, looking for where that quote came from. I couldn't find anything. Can you point out where and when?
All I found that was recent was an article on the Sport Dallas-Fort Worth website that suggests 5 teams he might be trade to, the first being the Sens. So there's at least one sports writer as of a month ago in DFW who seems unaware of it as well.

I can’t remembwr the exact page but I remember when Spezza wanted out of Ottawa he wouldn’t waive for any Canadian team and I also remember Nashville was on that list too cause they had a trade for him to go there but he shot it down. I can look for it though!

I found it! It says no Canadian teams + FLA, NYI, CBJ, and NSH. I bet CBJ, FLA, and NSH have probably changed by now though

I like the Hanzal idea but there would need to be guaranteed additional picks coming back to the Habs, something I'm not sure Dal is willing to give up.
Also I was reading an article on a Habs website that said Spezza may be willing to go to the Habs with the belief he could go to a contender at the deadline.
The thing with Hanzal is that he's just an older version of Danault and has two years remaining.
He would have to be our 2C bumping Janmark to 1C

Drouin, Janmark, Lekhonen
Domi, Hanzal, Gallagher
Hudon, Danault, Scherbak
Deslauries, Pleks, Armia

I think Pacioretty can get you more. I'd say Montreal should look for early picks and/or left dman prospects above all, they don't really need more center prospects after last draft.

And yea, Spezza would probably not waive.

I think that’s what everyone including myself is going off. Don’t get me wrong though Spezza in Montreal makes too much sense. If he was to be flipped at the trade deadline it would be perfect for him

It's just so damn old - before he got traded to the Stars - that I don't see how you can rely on it. Maybe it's just a tiny bit wee bit possible things have changed in the NHL and his life in the last 4 years?

I'm not trying to sound like a jerk here. It's just that you hear people saying Spezza wouldn't go to Canada like it was holy writ - but the source is at best ancient history.

Idk man. It’s possible but I just don’t see it. As good as a fit it is, idk if he’ll do it

yeah, no, and this is nothing at you - the only one who really knows if he'll do it is probably him
I'm just really sick of people saying he won't if that's all it's based on.

That’s fair, and honestly I’m pretty sure that’s what it’s based on unless there’s something I missed recently
