Q/A for CBJ and Hockey Fans.

I would like to know what the CBJ fan base is thinking as well as the NHL fan base on the grumblings from the Jackets. This is going to be an informational thread so please conduct accordingly and refrain from any derogatory posts.

Please feel free to answer any of the following questions and please feel free to submit any of your own questions.

1.) What rookies/prospects do you see breaking into the lineup?
2.) Which roster player that played in 2017-2018 do think will be fighting tooth and nail to keep their job?
3.) How well do you think Jarmo and John Davidson have done to give us the hockey team we have now? Any thing you would change or disapprove of?
4.) Any players you could see getting traded this year at trade deadline?
5.) What is the window for Columbus to stay competitive and try to win the cup? (i.e. Now or they have 3yrs)
6.) How do you feel as a fan about the Panarin situation? How could it be addressed or how can it be remedied?
7.) how do you feel as a fan about the Bobrovsky situation? How could it be addressed or how could it be remedied?
8.) Do you feel Bobs time in Columbus is up and Do you think Korpisalo or any goalie prospects can make the elite goaltender leap?
9.) Which player(s) need to have a bounce back year?
10.) Which player(s) do you think will have a breakout year?
11.) how much and how long do you think Werenski will get on his next contract?
12.) Who is the jackets most overrated player and the most underrated player?
13.) Which jacket(s) will break the 50pt mark.
14.) Do you think jackets are playoff contenders this year, if not Why? If so why?

Sorry I misunderstood. I see the questions now. (leafs fan is me, just how I see it) Lets do it..

1) Abramov
2) Dubinsky
3) They have very good drafting record, they developed talent pool which is really important (Werenski and Dubois especially). Also trades for Jones and Panarin were unbelievable. No changes needed.
4) Panarin or/and Bob would get traded as rentals and then sign as FAs in NYR, CAR respectivelly.
5) I dont see the window yet, if they keep Panarin and Bob then there would be a window in year or two but not now, too many developing parts to have a SC window opened or closed.
6), 7) Addressed at point 4. Also it feels like they dont hate the team but they want to be more relevant in the hockey industry.
8) Addressed
9) Nick Foligno. Has up and down years in terms of production and would go back to 60s imo. Also Wennberg would finally start fulfilling his potential
10) Bjorkstrand and Nuutivara.
11) Same as Provorov would get. I see something in range of 6.5-7mil for full 8yrs.
12) Most overrated.. Jenner (I know, I know, but in my eyes he is not that good..)
Most underrated.. Milano
13) Jones, Werenski, Foligno, Wennberg, Atkinson, Dubois, Panarin, Bjorkstrand
14) Not a contender, not a pretender. Team finding its true idendity..

You should do this for every team

i swear if CBJ isn't going to use milano they should trade him to the Pens where he will be appreciated on the LW.
It would be just another bone head decisions in a line of bone head decisions like trading Karlsson.
This team is going no where till they get rid of Tortz and he's gonna chase every decent player out.

1.) I see Abramov definitely making the team and Davidsson will be like a hanniakinen this year called up if there is an injury or someones game goes to crap.
2.) I think Milano will be fighting for his job because we have a lot of good wings in development and we only need one to play better defensively to knock milano out of his spot.
3.) I agree
4.) I think it all depends where they are at by trade deadline. If jackets are in playoff spot contention as in spots in the wildcard they will keep both to make a push to try and get 1,2, or three seed in Metro and risk getting nothing for either of them. if they are in 1,2 seed inmetro by that time I could see them trading Panarin to his supposed spot.
5.) I see at least till the seattle expansion team comes in as their window after that its back to drawing board
6.) I briefly discussed this on 4, but on the slight chance that the jackets keep panarin for whole year and make it to playoffs there may be a slight chance he would resign only if the jackets make it past the 2nd round. to me that would be the only reason he would stick around.
7.) I see Bob staying till end of year regardless where they are at. the only way i see jackets resigning him is if Jarmo can convince Bob to sign a team friendly contract in order to keep a playoff appearance streak going. this falls under with the likes of crosby and malkin they both signed team friendly deals in order to give the team the best possible chance of getting cups/ playoff appearences fro years to come, and we all see how that is going. however if all bob wants is money and has no desire to be with team then let him walk.
8.) 7 answers most of this but i think Korpisalo gets more starts this year to see if he can handle extra workload.
9.) Murray needs to have one hell of a year he is playing for a contract.
10.)I see Dubois and Bjorkstrand having breakout years. i could see dubois easily putting up 60-70 pts if panarin is on the line for a significant amount of the season. Bjrokstrand I could see just breaking 50pts by the end of the season.
12) i would have to say most overrated player is Wennberg and most underrated is Bjorkstrand. I believe Wennberg will never live up to his potential and is basically dubinsky 2.0. Bjorkstrand put up 40 pts and hardly got any media address you put up 40 pts in 82 games as a rookie by just going through the motions.
13) I agree with all of those minus Wennberg and if Abramov makes the team and is in top 6 i could see him breaking 50 pts.
14.) I think they make it to 2nd round but that is it.

I think torts just wants guys responsible on both ends. CBJ does not have the luxury of having a forward going all gung ho on offense with no defensive capabilities. they are to young for that and the defense minus werenski and jones is still developing.

yeah I'm sure that's the excuse for Tortz everywhere he's been.
Everywhere he goes he burns the bridge to his players. Columbus dispatch has reported on him losing the locker room multiple times the past 2 years.
He's and idiot. He screams at players who have no respect for him. His former players have ripped him for not even being able to do basic things like shoot while skating but he's screaming at them over anything.
On top of it he constantly demands a goonish game. Which is how you end up with players like Jenner on 2nd and 3rd lines where they don't belong and Milano on the 4th line. Because that's what Tortz wants.. Meanwhile the GM is trying to get away from that.

I agree completely with all points above.
In addition to Nutivaara gaining much more attention this year, I think Kukan also will take a big stride forward in development and ice time.
As for future goalies, i think Merzlikens would come over in 2019 and possibly compete for ice time with Korpisaalo.
I do not necessarily agree with Smidget's rebuttal that Wennberg is most overrated, he has been playing 2C slot because Dubi dropped off so much the last couple of years and Foligno/Jenner are not true centers.
Wenny is still developing at center, and plays a very solid two way game. He does need to shoot first more often then always look to pass, which will then back off defenders and give him a fraction more time/space to operate.
If he doesn't become better at shooting first, then yes he will not progress beyond a 3rd Center defensive specialist.
Several Boston AGM's have said that Nash moved up in their lineup last year to cover for injuries, and he did not appear out of place.
I would be interested to see Nash in the 2C slot and Wennberg in the 3C slot, to see if he plays better against other teams 3rd/4th line.

Agreed. Nash is swiss knife with all the tools you can use in all situations at all times. Perfectly versatille player. And you basically drafted your future starter in Vehvilainen (hopefully Im right) this year..

I will try and do this for every team but no guarantees. I will probably make the questions more generalized as to not upset fans from other fan bases, but being a jackets fan i figured i new more about my teams inner workings than others.
