In this scenario, Minny goes all-in for one last shot at the Stanley Cup with this core. The idea is to make us deep at forward and fix the bottom pairing. Seeler-Pateryn does not inspire confidence, as Pateryn is what he is, and Seeler is still a little unproven. Still, Seeler has room to grow, while Pateryn does not; that's how I decided who got shipped out.

I wonder what other good 4C we can get? Sheahan was just the first one I could think of.

Honsetly I don't think Fehr/Hendricks will be bad 4C's. Fehr was allegedly very good on the PK last year in SJS (even if it was a pretty limited sample). I know this is made at the deadline, so it's hard to say how they'll play at this point, but maybe both of these guys suck and in that case the PIT trade makes sense.

I actually liked Foligno a lot in the playoffs. He was a force on the ice. Regular season was a different story, but if we get the same Foligno as we did in the playoffs he's a solid bottom 6 player (even if his contract isn't great). Zuccarello is good but in the past 6 drafts we've traded away 3 1sts (if you count Alex Tuch to Vegas) and 4 2nd's. I would be very unhappy if our new GM traded yet another 1st for a likely rental player, even if he is good.

Pateryn for Miller seems like a wash to me. If Pateryn is trash maybe we make this deal, but if they're comparable I'd rather we just keep the pick.

Once again, Kunin should not play on the 4th line. If he's even in the NHL he should be at least on the 3rd, but I really think he should just stay in Iowa, develop at center, and play for us full time next season.

Basically I'm just sick of us trading away our picks for old rentals that leave after we lose in the 1st round. I'd rather we use those picks for players that are still young and would be on our team for many years IF we even consider trading picks. Just my two cents.

That's understandable. Realistically, though, I'd say that this is the last year for the Wild to go for the Cup, as Staal will need a new contract right after this, and he'll turn 35 in 2019. If your window closes next year, I figured that we may as well go all-in one last time. Whether we win the Cup or not, the rebuild will begin next year.

Yep agreed. That's why I wanted Karlsson so badly... I honestly think at this point we need to go into a 2-year semi-rebuild to gear for when Kaprizov comes. This current team has proven they are good enough to make the playoffs but aren't good enough to make a run and get to the finals so might as well sell some assets now. Now that Karlsson is traded, I'm REALLY hoping we make a push for Nylander. He's one of my all time favorite players and with the situation with his contract maybe we can swoop in and grab him. Obviously we'd have to move some bigger contracts to make it work on our side, but Nylander is the game-changing forward we need (bonus that he's a right shot).

I'd rather have Foligno and Pateryn over Zucc and Miller for the Playoffs. I think I'd like a Zucc for Coyle trade better, and it wouldn't cost as high of a draft pick.

I don't see Nylander happening without Dumba going to Tor. We'd just be robbing Peter to pay Paul. Reinhart is the unsigned RFA that is more in the Wild's price range (both money and cost to acquire).

I could if Granlund is going to Toronto. Similar player and production at a much lower price (but he's a UFA after 2 years). I just made a trade discussing this if you're interested.

MIN should have Kunin healthy by month into season ( i thought? ) He will be a good 4c, unless yinz are putting him at RW?

I don't know where he'll play. I thought the wing would work. If so, that's a damn good 4th line. Who needs grinders when you have Sheahan centering some actually talented wingers?

I agree, think the grinders are a thing of the past in NHL .... Pens absolutely love Sheahan tho, he will be our 4th line C with Cullen7 / ZAR46 on LW and B. Rust17 on RW.... but he will also get time at 3rd C too because Sully will throw Brassard on Sids wing and Genos wing 2 times each every period also. Plus She Bangs (Sheahan) is a great face off guy and i was surprised how good he is on PK last year.... like seriously i never thought id see a better defensive Forward than Haglin but She Bangs is rite with him.
