    But why? Heinen out produced Wood last year and is still under his ELC

    Idea is that you can sign Wood’s contract now at a lesser rate than Heinen will be signed for. Also gives the Bruins a big body in their top 6 which they dont have if they choose to move him up the lineup. Heinen is a good player but I cant see him ever having that “it” factor. Similar to Loui Eriksson

    I like wood but not sure how much better it makes you. is his upside much better than Heinen.

    So trade a player who produces more for a less producing player because he'll be cheaper to sign? How does that make any sense?

    Also the size thing?

    Wood - 6'2/195lb
    Heinen - 6'1/185lb

    There isn't a huge size difference here. Wood for Heinen is a downgrade for Boston
