I think this is like the Hall for Larsson deal that the Oilers are regretting, possibly worse in terms of return. It'd be more palatable if they included Sam Steel.

Unless Leafs are taking back Perry there is little chance of Ducks adding what will be another big contract. They have only 15 of the 23 NHL roster players signed for next year but have 74m tied up in them. And Ritchie still unsigned. They are in cap hell.

The ducks can’t afford Nylander but they have 19 players on their current nhl roster signed next season for that 74M. That could be up to 11M in cap space. They’ll be fine cap wise.

Cap is supposed to be 82 next year. With 15 spots full at 74m that leaves 8m for 8 spots. And Ritchie unsigned.

Check Friedman’s 31 thoughts, cap can be anywhere from 81.2-85.4M. They also have 20 players on the roster to get to that 74M and 19 of those players have played in the NHL. They’ll need a back up goalie and 2 defenseman to fill the roster.

Can be but last year league said it was looking like 80 this year and 82 next. They were right about the 80. So...

Expansion fees could help push it up a bit.

Go to your team page on this site and check next years stats. Of the players on the current roster they have 15 signed for next year at 74m. Of course there are plenty of internal options still on there ELC that can fill the roster cheaply. Was not the point. They are in no position to take on another big contrct without dumping others. That was the point. They are capped out.

Friedman 31 thoughts, Board of goveners meeting cap estimates 81.4-85.4 depending on NHLPA in flator.

I literally just did. The 74M includes the 20 players on the current NHL roster that have contracts for next season. 1. Cogliano 2. Getzlaf 3. Perry 4. Kesler 5. Eaves 6. Henrique 7. Kase 8. Rakell 9. Rowney 10. Sherwood 11. Lundestrom 12. Terry 13. Steel 14. Comtois 15. Fowler 16. Manson 17. Lindholm 18. Montour 19. Gibson 20. Max Jones (only player not to have played an nhl game).

Well take it up with the site they list roster size at 15 for next year. That’s what i was basing it off.
