Only Kostin has a good value in your trade with CLB... Allen and Steen have no value in this trade...

Toronto is not trading Nylander. And while that trade may look good in the short term, its not very smart from a long term perspective. Pietrangelo is an amazing player, top 5 defenceman in the league I'd say, but he's also getting up there in age, still in his prime but for not much longer while both Liljegren and Nylander have their best years are ahead of them.

Aren’t the Leafs going to “likely” deal Nylander by Dec. 1? That’s the latest thing I read. And adding Pietrangelo now would make Toronto the cup favorite this year and next. Why not get him?

Definitely - but this is turning into a long standoff and the Leafs look meh defensively particularly on the right side. This would obvi be a win now move. Might have to be 1:1 type, but as aBlues fan I wouldn't like that.

I don't know where you are hearing the likely deal stuff from. Last the top insiders have said was that talks are progressing in a positive way and Dubas met with Nylander face to face to assure him he is not getting traded. Yeah adding Pietrangelo makes them a contender this year but it creates even more long term cap issues than they currently have. Pietrangelo is going to get a 8 year 11+ million dollar deal in 2 years and that is a terrible contract for a guy who's about to turn 30. I am a proponent of never mortgaging the future for a short term gain.

I think Toronto does this deal without even hanging up the phone to discuss it first. Toronto's D is a MESS! Moving on from this train wreck that is the Nylander contract situation and gettign a #1 D out of it... Yeah, they are on board.

He's only 28. Will be in his prime the next 4 years. Perfect window for Toronto.

Toronto's d is a mess is such a dumb thing many people say. The only stat that suggests the Leafs d isn't at least average, is shots against. That stat requires context to determine if its really a problem. Think of it from this perspective. What team has a better chance of winning. A team that allows 35 shots a night with only 5 of them coming from within 15 feet of the net, or a team who allows 20 shots a night but 10 of them come from within 15 feet?

Toronto allows a lot of shots but they almost always win the high danger scoring chance battle, meaning most of the shots against are coming from outside. This year they are even better at that than the year before. Watch them play and see how many shots from really close are coming in. They are getting very good at protecting the slot which means defensively they are in good position.

That's even worse, that means his next deal will come when he turns 30 and it will be huge. He'll be declining for most of his next contract. Nylander is 22 and will be getting better for the next 2-3 years and then will remain great for 6-8 years after that. Liljegren is 19, he's got his entire career ahead of him. This trade would look good for almost zero amount of time.

Freddy Andersen has faced the 8th most High Danger shots against this year.

Where is this stat? Also he's played more than any other goalie as well. Plus I will be the first to admit that the first few games were awfully leaky this season but the past 4 or 5, have been much better defensively.

And at 5v5 he's faced the 3rd most HDSA. I found it on corsica.hockey/goalie-stats/

denver post says that and i mean writing is kinda on the wall. Dubas at a canes game tonight. He seems to go to a ton of hockey games that have nothing to do with his team but conveniently feature teams interested in nylander

American media has almost no clue what happens in their own rinks let alone in Canada. Dubas watches more hockey than anyone, that doesn't mean he's shopping anyone. It's been widely reported he went to Switzerland to tell Nylander he isn't being traded. You are buying into nonsense speculation.
