If Chicago wants to get rid of Seabrook, I'm pretty sure that will cost them even more than that. He's contract is so damn terrible! In fact, The only team with worst contracts than your is Detroit.

PS: And Chicago would still needs to retain a good part of his salary.

Seabrook is basically a power play specialist on a horrible contract. He gets absolutely worked at even strength.

Seabs is a GREAT 3rd pairing and power play guy...other then that, he's a below average 2nd liner at this point in his career. THUS, the cap hit is a killer. Firstly, Seabs has to agree to go to a team, second, the Hawks will need to retain $2M on his salary plus give up pieces to move him. At this point, the Hawks are stuck with him and need to basically hope the new CBA negotiation in 2019/2020 will give them flexibility.
