Though the trades might be fair, is that message to you want to send to your players and fans? "We have given up on this season".

I think they should retool like the Rangers are doing. Because with the roster they have I don't believe they'll ever win the Cup.

Well Panarin is not coming back. Fans know that. Bob on the other hand is tough. I’d surely wait to see where they are at the deadline before moving him. Work an extension in the meantime if they are doing ok. But it sounds like he does not want to be there either.

Philly deal is interesting. You may have to take some cap back though and make the first protected.

CBJ can do better on the Panarin deal. They need to send him to a NY team and cash in.

What's a worse message to send to your fans:
A: "we're taking the very real chance that two elite players will leave in FA for nothing."
B: "we have given up on this season, with the goal of staying in the playoff hunt for years to come."

Most playoff contenders or Championship contenders in any sport do not sell there upcoming UFAs. They put there best product. on the ice. I know there is a this logic that teams can't let their players "walk". If that is the case, there won't be any team willing to trade for UFAs, because at the end of the June, some teams are going to have the 90 UFAs.

I agree the panarin trade is bad but the only way we trade him to a NY team is if we are out if playoffs by the TDL and NYI is. Rangers would be stupid to pick him up

I think the other option for a good return in TB they would have to trade a quality piece out to make the cap work, plus you'd get a 1st and possibly a prospect. There is a good deal to be had on Loaf if they don't make the playoffs.

I would say BOS > TBL > DAL in terms of trade return
