Bergeron's Comparables should be Kopitar and Toews both 10m+ players with a lot of term left.
Marchand's Comparables are a little tougher, but given his last three seasons and averaging 37 goals. His market value is probably around 7.5 -8m
Pastrnak's also tough because he is so young, but He should probably be in the 7-8m range.
Rask isn't hurting them when it comes to cap space. He may, but he is paid pretty much what he is worth. I would Rather have Rask at 7m than Andersen at 5m. Both are overpaid. Goalies get paid. When this next wave gets paid, his contract will look better (Murray, Vasilevsky, Bobrovsky). Unless you have a goalie on a rookie or bridge deal, they are getting paid too much. Unless your name is Carey Price you either fit into the "Not good" or "Fine" Category. Most of the guys in the "fine" category are 5-7m.
Krejci - Yes paid too much, but not by the amount everyone thinks. I often use Statsny contract as a point of reference. He just got 3 @ 6.5m. Krejci is a better player.
Backes - Yeah, most teams have mistake
Chara - Yeah - 5m is a great deal for him. He is a beast. Not a Norris contender anymore, but still a legit top pairing guy.
They also had: McAvoy, Grzelyk, Heinen, Debrusk & Kuraly Come in as Rookies and Perform Very Well. Plus Carlo also on a rookie deal.
To answer your question. There is some good timing in their cap structure. They will need to move one or two of the guys you mentioned by the next off season.
oh Yeah, they also have three of the best players in hockey for WELL under their market value. I mean both Pastrnak and Marchand are making 6.1 & 6.6m for the next 5-7 years.
