no its not. trading Price would set the franchise back by a decade. Yeah he's having some bad games, but look at his numbers before that. The guy still is, and remains to be, the best goaltender in the world. trading him would set the fracnhise back by a decade. any trading involving the better player in a package is a loss.

Why does MTL trade there franchise tender for
an old bad contract who barely has positive value
a solid dman
a terrible contract
and an injured goalie
ALL THAT CAP THOUGH!!
not even a 7 round pick
Franchise goalies don't win cups single handedly anymore. Knowing that, his contracts is whats setting the team back already.
I respect your opinion on Carter, Brown and Quick. But I disagree.
Carter is not slowing down by any means. And although he missed 3/4 of last year due to injury (laceration), most of his career has been healthy. His contract is cap friendly and IMO he could fetch a decent return if I decide to flip him, especially since he doesn't carry NTC-NMC.
Brown had a career year last year, which indicates he still has juice, and a different system like the Habs could be ideal in order to milk whatever he has left.
Quick is injury plagued the last few yrs no doubt but so has been Price to a lesser degree. But it's Quick, 2 time Cup winner, conn smythe winner, friendly cap hit and term! and a fresh start with Stephane Waite as his goalie coach could be beneficial. Also no NTC/NMC in his contract, which it's worth something.
All these guys are 2 x Cup winners, and their presence around our young core, could be very benificial. And
If we can nab a draft pick or 2 coming back the Habs way, I'd consider it a bonus. And their contracts expire sooner than Price.
LA is looking for a fresh start, and with the extra cap space and a potential top 10 draft pick, could be an ideal situation for them.
