Tor takes that deal and runs....serious over payment.
Doubt that gets you Duchene....Rask is useless.

You are getting fleeced by Toronto. You should fold the franchise after making that trade. The Duchene trade is close but youd still need to change the 2nd to a 1st at least

Most Carolina fans have this logic.

Aho and Teravainen are worth more than double Pesce. Nylander who is extremely comparable to those players is worth less than Pesce. Yeah you guys totally don't over value your own players at all.

This coming from one of the people on here highly guilty of overvaluing Nylander. Remember you commenting to me when talking about Schmaltz and Muprhy for Nylander that Nylander is better in takeaways? He ranked last year 15th, Schmaltz 3rd.

Any closer if I swap TOR's and OTT's picks? Or even drop the pick entirely from TOR? The idea of losing Teuvo sucks but I get the impression the asking price on Nylander is going to hurt a little.

I wasn't aware of that stat. Good for him, Schmaltz can be part of the answer for a Chicago rebuild.

That being said, if you put Aho as twice the player Pesce is, then so is Nylander.

Pesce is a lesser version of Zaitsev. Zaitsev can play offence if given the chance. Bad deal for the Leafs. Pesce is Bobby Orr once again I guess.

Pesce and Turbo alone are overpayment for Nylander. Pesce and a 2nd is about what he is worth if that.

I never compared Aho to Pesce. I would take Aho straight up for Nylander any day; close but Aho gets the edge. Pesce and a 2nd at most is what Nylander is worth. Turbo and a 4th for Nylander as I like Nylander slightly more then Turbo.

The point I was making is that Cane's fans will say, Nylander for Pesce and TO should add. While at the same time they'll say Aho is worth Rielly. Rielly is a Norris candidate, Pesce is a stay at home defenceman. These are not comparable players we are talking about. Pesce is at the very best, a guy who compliments a #1 defenceman. By him self he's a good defensive player and pk guy. He's a younger better version of Hainsey with less offense. That isn't worth a 22 year old player with back to back 60 point seasons. There are only a handful of those in the entire league and almost all of the players who did score 60 points in 2 of their 3 ELC's are all top players on their teams. Kucherov had 2 60 point seasons before his bridge deal.

So really, Nylander's ceiling could be in the Kucherov neighbourhood, I doubt he'll be that good, but he's a top player. Pesce? What's his ceiling? Chris Tanev? He's a terrific defensive defenceman and a player I would absolutely love to see in Blue and White but if it cost Nylander, its a terrible move.

Here's the debate with Nylander; he only had 20 goals and his puck possession skill isn't the best (give away to take away ratio isn't A talent, more B+ level); so that said, is he a benefactor of playing with Marner and Matthews? That's the question every GM including Toronto is asking. Not saying he's not a top 100 forward at all, but is he a top 50 A level talent? We know he's not a top 20 Elite talent, but is he a top 50 at that A level talent or a A- somewhere between 50 and 100? I peg him around 60th best forward in the league based on his two seasons. I personally think his ceiling is definitely a top 50 and even top 35, but who knows is the big question. If someone picks him up for $7.5M a year and without Marner and Matthews is he going to be better, worse or the same in the next few years...that's the question.

If you have ever watched him, you'd know that he isn't a guy who rides Matthews coattails. Also I am not sure he's ever been on the ice at the same time as Marner. Watching Matthews this year, you can see that he's being forced to do a lot more carrying the puck up the ice because his linemates are just not capable of doing so. That wasn't the case last season since Nylander is super fast and also could be the 2nd best stick handler next to Marner (Marner is quick but not as fast as Nylander). Nylander's only knock (apart from holding out) is that he can get a little absent in his own zone, but he's a monster in the offensive zone and the defensive zone. He's also a playmaker so he won't score as much as some of these other players, but that doesn't mean he isn't good at creating as much offense as a guy who scored 30 goals (Elhers, who is absolutely boosted by strong linemates) Playmakers tend to have more give aways because they pass a lot more and many of those passes are attempts to the slot that get picked off.

Take Pesce out of your proposed trade (and Toronto doesn't really need him) and it still favors Toronto. And I'm a Maple Leafs guy.
