Most of these seem like you are giving up very little to get a lot. To get these players you'd have to give quality to get quality.

I don't think Matthew Tkachuk is available, but if he is the price would be very high. I don't think either Stone nor Duchene would get it done due to their ages and contracts. There's only 2 other players that come close to Matthew's value. One of them is his brother, which I imagine the whole point in trading for Matthew is to unite the two brothers, and even then Ottawa might have to add since Matthew is more of a proven player. The other is Chabot, who doesn't make much sense for Calgary since they just traded for Hanifin. If Ottawa still had their 1st this year, that might get it done for Calgary since that pick has a good chance of being a high one.

Bobrovsky is going to cost much more than an overpaid winger and some spare parts. I think Columbus would be more interested in Stone or Duchene for Bob than Calgary would be for M Tkachuk, but Stone and Duchene are such big parts of the Sens success that trading them doesn't make a whole lot of sense. I also don't see the need for Bob since the Sens are apparently rebuilding and trading for a goalie over 30 gives you a much smaller window than acquiring a promising young goalie in the draft this year. You might be able to move a center prospect for a goalie prospect since the Sens have a very deep center prospect pool.

Thanks for reading the description and giving reasons why and options Arousedcat I will sit with my daughter and go over your response with her and see what else we can come up with. we figured that some of the players we had in the trades had value, so we will try again and hopefully we can pull off a good trade that benefits both sides. We are by no means experts and just enjoy the sport and the Sens and actually I enjoy doing this with her. thanks again,

No worries! That's what makes this site fun, you can come up with hypothetical ideas to hopefully improve your team. It can take a little while to figure out value, but I like to live by the rule that if the roles were reversed and I were the team acquiring the components I'm giving up in a trade, would I be happy? If not, then the trade is probably not good. If so, then you might have something. In the end, this site can be summed up by Drew Carey's famous opening line in Who's Line is it Anyway?, "everything's made up and the points don't matter". Happy armchair GM'ing smile
