Boston is not going to give up Carlo and a 1st to get rid of Backes' contract. Especially considering Steen is signed for same length of term at only 250k less.

Tarasenko deal is bad not enough, same with Pietrangelo deal, Schenn's as well. Boston won't ever do that even if Peter Chiarelli was in charge. They shouldn't rebuild we just started a huge window. Give them n extra 1 more shot and let's see what happens next year.

I don’t know if you kept the tv on after the game last night and watched Colorado vs. Pittsburgh, but if you did you got to watch real hockey. There’s such a massive gap between us and the great teams of the league. There’s something very wrong with the core of the team and they’re not gonna turn it around.

idk if you know what chemistry is, but if you do you should know with all the new players on the team. We are below the mark because we can't play together like a team. It will take a year. I wasn't surprised when I aw the team doing terrible it was my expectation with all the mves.

Vegas went to the cup-final... plus we’re 20 games in and have showed closed to nothing. The only wins we have are bs emotional wins where the team was awful the game before. We have the least amount of wins in the league and have yet to win 3 games in a row. You’ve got to accept that this team isn’t gonna fix itself or it’s gonna be a long couple years.

Not to mention, it's not just an on the ice problem, if you look at that bench the players aren't having fun, they're not chatting it up like you see all the good teams doing. There's no cohesion with their personalities. There is a massive divide which can only be fixed by making some moves.

I know. No one fires up the team and gives them energy. Steen and Pietrangelo are both constant downers and Tarasenko mopes around when things aren’t going well. You can tell that players don’t enjoy playing under Pietrangelo. I think Schwartz should be the captain. He’s not a vocal guy by any means, but he’s a guy that I think everyone in the locker room loves and he’s a great lead by example guy. I just see a team that has no confidence

Tarasenko has done a lot less moping this year which is very nice to see, but he has in the past. I wouldn't mind Schwartz if he wasnt always hurt. Personally, I'd be fine playing without a captain for a year or two. Hasn't hurt Toronto. If they have to give it to someone, I might even be okay with Schenn at this point. He's at least showed gumption

The weird thing is that ROR has the reputation as Mr. negativity, but he’s been the only guy who plays with much passion this year. I’ve seen nothing but positivity from him

If I lived in Buffalo I'd be Mr. Negativity too. Outside of Niagra Falls and the Anvil (home of the original Buffalo wings) there's nothing

Steen is a scoring Winger that can easily knot you 40+ points paired with Krecji. Backes is playing on the 4th line right now and has 3 points this season. Youre right the age and term are the quite similar, and the first might have been over extended, but the fact is, they'll have to attach a decent player to get rid of the contract

You need to also think about at what level these teams are selling at. They are selling really LOW right now so i honestly think a return is within all these ballparks. Tarasenko is amazing, but i cant see EDM giving up Bouchard, Pullij, a First, and RNH. Thats a huge overpayment.

Schenn deal /i think is perfectly even as they got a great prospect and basically 3 picks for him (more then PHI sold him)

Pietrangelo is the same as Tarasenko, not to mention hes a UFA next season. I cant see the leafs giving up a first, Nylander, and a blue chip like Sandin for him. That again is overpayment and honestly, Pietrangelo is playing up to that price. It's roughly in that ballpark i mentioned tbh

Then sorry to tell you they won't be heading to any of those teams then. The value is based on we he brings to your team.

Believe me, I would absolutely love Boston if they gave up Carlo and a first just for taking Backes's contract. Being a fan of both teams (fiance is from Massachusetts), I wouldn't want that for Boston lol. I'd much rather them try for Schenn

Even if Schenn was traded to Boston, Cap implications would force Backes to come back the over way to be honest. What makes his contract more ****ty is that he has a NMC which STL is a team he could waive for that wont have any bad implications you know? Again, maybe not carlo then, would M. Grezlyk be more in the ballpark?

If it's Schenn, it will definitely have to be one of Carlo, Vaakanainen, or Studnicka plus a 1st. Honestly, I would prefer Vaakanainen over Carlo just because we need help on the left side. If It's Steen, maybe Lauzon, First, and a lower pick with Backes included?

Dude lol, the values are based off what level they are playing at right now, and how theyre contract is. Schenn and Pietrangelo are UFA next season, while Tarasenko is locked in for 5. So yes, Tarasenko value is unbelievably high, but thats a huge overpayment by EDM if they include Bouchard.

Just look at 2 recent trades. Ott could have gotten more for Karl from VGK last season then they did this season. LA-Pitt is another one as Tanner Pearson is a way better player then Hagelin will ever be, but because Pearson struggled so much, thats all they got

Left side D are easier to come by tbh. They can get Gardiner in the offseason through Free agency to help fill a void. But yes, I agree with your valuation of it

I can't imagine any of the higher-ups being ok with investing a huge amount of money and not expecting results for an entire season. They should've been able to come together as a team by now, but they lack the leadership in the room to do so.

We could get Gardiner, but the Blues main problem is defensive zone play which Gardiner lacks.

Honestly, I agree to a degree. They just look so slow. I think an injection of speed could really help them out

There's Kyrou who they sent down to AHL. We also have Lost in who may not be ready, but hell, can't hurt. They have to trade Steen first though. Once that happens it can open the door for more moves
