Rags Moves this season - Reason 257 for Why I am NOT a GM

Created by: LBNYMike
Team: 2018-19 New York Rangers
Initial Creation Date: Nov. 16, 2018
Published: Dec. 14, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Move all expiring contracts and the two defensemen that everyone is clamoring to get rid of.
You add three good young players and 7 draft picks over the next two years.

My rationale for these deals:

Mcquaid to TOR - they need a tough 6/7 D for the playoffs; we get a mid-rd pick.
B. Smith to OTT - we rid ourselves of his contract and open a slot on D. Taking back Gabby's deal and stashing him on IR doesn't hurt us and gives OTT a decent vet D that will actually be in their lineup versus paying Gabby to sit on IR.
Shatty to BUF - take back two bad deals (one expiring) and add a good young wing.
Gimour and McCleod to NSH - gives them playoff depth and we add a mid rd pick plus a 7.
Zucc to CAR gets us a mid rd pick (or better) plus we can reunite Fox with Lindgren and have them play out the last 2-3 months of the season and see if they can stick next year.
Hayes to BOS gets us a late 1 and a good young wing with speed and upside if BOS bites on the deal. There are plenty of other suitors for Hayes. I also toyed with an idea of signing Hayes on Jan 1st and sending him and Kreider to EDM for Draisaitl and then signing the breadman or skinner in July to play on his wing with Chytil.

Just some ideas I was kicking around so be kind - none of us on here are freakin geniuses

Easy no from Boston lol. The bad blood between the Hayes family and Boston is well known. Its also well known that Sweeney was devastated to not have a 1st rounder last year and plans to keep his 1st this year (unless a no-brainer deal comes along). On top of that, Bjork is probably their best young forward after Pastrnak and they are not moving him after 1.5 seasons.

I didn't think that would fly either but it is something I'd be hopeful for as a Rangers fan. I still think we can/will get a similar package from someone if we deal Hayes.

While I think that is a very fair offer for Shattenkirk, IMO Buffalo already has Ristolainen to fill the role that Kevin would provide. So no deal my friend.
