General question. Why do team sign ELC contract at this point in the season? Not something I've ever known the reasoning behind.

It will slide anyway, leafs would have to sign him before July 1st anyway to retain his rights.

He is for sure... but 925k.... errr seems steep.

Edit: just noticed the details that max entry level was assumed. So it may be less.

He is having a good season. Leafs sign him now so as to prevent him (and his agent) from thinking he could get more money from being re-drafted in June at a higher position.
