No, save your money. He may never be better than year . You really want to put the Habs over the cap when bonuses are included? Spend at LHD, should be cap efficient short term help available.

Should they? Why not? Will he sign there...less likely.

I think there is a chance he extends in Buffalo. He has excelled there and close to his hometown. There was no chance of him extending in Carolina. He has always wanted to go FA route at the end of the contract. Choose his own destiny. But he might be happy enough where he is. Even if he opts not to extend and test the market i think if Buffalo makes an offer in the ballpark of others he signs with them. Unless a cup favorite makes a push for him or he gets a significantly higher offer elsewhere, Buffalo might be the best situation for him.
