I think you're definitely on the right track here. Bobrovsky could lead St.Louis to a quick retool. Carlsson is a very underrated dman with lots of upside and Milano might not have much of a chance in Columbus so he could be moved. And with Panarin and Tarasenko being good buddies it could easily entice Panarin to sign long term. The only issue I have is that its not the team that Panarin has an issue with, it's been reported that he wants to go to a more well known city like New York or Chicago or something. Bringing over Tarasenko might not be enough

I don't think that is enough. Think would need to be the 1st pick instead of the 2nd.

@JonesRyan Appreciate the kind words. As a die hard CBJ fan I'm pretty in tune with what is going on with the team and Panarin and his agent asked to set up a meeting in late January during the off week to discuss things. He said in an interview that his mindset in the summer was not to sign a contract but that isnt so much his thinking anymore. That doesnt mean hes definitely going to sign, just means he is at least willing to talk and see. Because of that fact is why trading for Tarasenko, Panarin's best friend, could be a big influence, could be nothing but if I'm Jarmo, I dont think it hurts my chances any of signing Panarin long-term. Certainly couldnt hurt to ask Panarin if bringing him over would make him want to sign. As far as Carlsson, hes big, a little slow and maybe not as talented as a Parayko but thats kind of who he reminds me of besides the opposite handedness, who STL could trade and that would make Carlsson a great fit. Milano needs ice time, hes never gotten it and I dont see it happening in Columbus any time soon. Again, appreciate the comment!

I think thats plenty if Bobrovsky signed. STL gets 2 former 1st round picks to build around who are both 22 (Carlsson 22 on Jan 2) along with a 2nd and the best goaltender in the game. Only STL would be able to offer an 8th year and for a franchise that would be going through a partial rebuild, having a stud #1 goalie around would stabilize things. CBJ assume all the risk with Allen who hasnt been good for much of the last year and a half.

Fleury. I would have to say CBJ might need to send more salary the other way or St. louis has to eat some of that cap. For us to sign our free agents next year to reasonable deals, we would need at least 6-7mill cap space left. to me 4.9mill for a center and 5.85 mill for a third and 4th line center respectively is not ideal.

the oxford comma may have been useful in this situation lol. Ill say it a different way this time "... STL gets a 2nd round pick, and the best goalie in the game..."

now you dont have to take away your 3 star vote!

If STL is going to rebuild, they're gonna want as much cap space as possible to completely retool the roster. From the CBJ perspective it actually would work out. Start with a baseline of about 21mil in cap space free assuming a 3 mil increase in salary cap. Take Panarin to 9 a year which leaves Werenski, Murray, and Duclair as players of value to be resigned with apx 12 mil to sign them. Simplistic view but it would work. Murray is worth probably somewhere around 4-4.5 maybe a half a mil more as hes had a strong year, and cant see Werenski making more than Jones so call it an even 5. Worst case scenario, buy out Dubinsky which gets the Jackets almost another 4 mil in cap space or trade Murray or (and I would not be in favor of this move) trade Werenski. Theres more options than what meets the eye at first. Just my thoughts is all.
