Counter to Tmclean64 - Vancouver trade

Created by: Shibbal18
Team: 2018-19 Buffalo Sabres
Initial Creation Date: Dec. 27, 2018
Published: Dec. 27, 2018
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Tmclean64 wants SJS first and offered Pouliot to Vancouver's side to add value. Sabres already have more than enough LHD, so id go for a young RWer. I briefly looked at Linds stats on his CF page so dont roast me to hard, im admiting im not too familiar, but it looks like hes a few years away despite all the hype i read quickly about him (a couple of older articles)

So you're telling me you're on board with a trade centered around acquiring Loui Eriksson and you'd like to play him on your first line? 5 Stars from this Boston fan, that's a great idea! sarcasm

Gets rid of Okposo and Eichel turned Skinner into a ppg - 40 goal scorer, its at least an interesting idea to see what he could do with them

He makes 2 teams a day and will acquire the same guy for like 20 days straight. Last year he made 49 curtis Lazar trades.

Hell move on.

Skinner had 37 goals and 63 points in 2016-2017 on a poor team and totaled 30 3x times in 8 years. Eriksson has scored 2 30 goal season's in his 12 year career. If you think trading a 30 year old .41 p/gp forward for a 33 year old .41 p/gp forward who has no intensity and shrinks in the playoffs you should write your GM. The only thing better about Eriksson is his cap hit comes off the books sooner, but that's still after he finishes this season and then 3 more on top. Eriksson was good 1 season in Boston; His contract year. Aside from that season he really hasn't been good since he played for Dallas during his 2011-2012 season.

This guy might outdo JCBruins8989. I didn't think that was possible, but it could be true.

Why are we giving up a 1st in this deal?!
Holy hell... no freaking way dude

And no thanks to Eriksson
Just add a pick to get someone to take Okposo

Even if it’s a year less...
Let’s get rid of bad contracts, period
Not swap 1 out for the other

I didnt say Eichel was turning Eriksson into a 40 goal scorer, i said it be interesting, we already know what we have with Okposo and hes been just as bad for Buffalo as Eriksson is for Vancouver. At the pace Skinner is running, 40 goals is a conservative estimate (hes on pace for 60 at nearly the halfway point), so yes, Skinner was a goal scorer, but Eichel has had a significant impact on him still

Quick comparison of their advanced stats at 5v5, not to mention the 2 prospects the sabres are picking up.

So wait, you're saying you want to trade the guy who's higher in goals/60 and primary assists/60 for the guy who's 3 years older and higher in secondary assists? Nice! you keep getting more logical. Is that because his toi is higher too? That'd make it even better!

Hes 2 percentile higher in each catagory, thats hardly noticeable and not much of a trade off when you start to compare possession numbers, but good try. Eriksson is also a .8 percentile higher in toi, literally 19 seconds on average more. Youre making my case for me

The possession numbers seem obvious to me. Who's better at defense Horvat, Pettersson, Roussel and Goldobin or Mittelstadt, Sheary, Thompson and Reinhart. I think Erikisson's playing with better linemates here both offensively and defensively which completely annihilates any point you're trying to make about Eriksson being as good or better than Okposo. I mean seriously Horvat > Reinhart because he scores more goals and plays better defense. Pettersson >>>> Mittelstadt, One rookie has 38 points one has 10. Goldobin >>> Thompson one guy has 23 points one has 7 and finally Roussel >= Sheary as Roussel plays better defense has more points but has less goals. You made a point about Eriksson getting better by playing with Eichel, but he's not even good enough to play with him and if he played with the same guys as Okposo is; his numbers would be a lot worse meaning he has lower value.

This is where watching comes into play and constantly watching Okposo miss Mittelstadt and Sheary with passes or turning it over in acoring areas. You start off comparing possession numbers then you just give and say Horvats better cause he has more points, when their advanced stats are not far off, while Im saying Mittelstadt and Sheary would have more points with a better winger. Pettersson has been the phenom we expected and compared to Mittelstadt hes 11 percentile ahead, but shots against hes 15 percentile lower which says hes not better a defence like you claimed. relTM CF% Pettersson is 32 percentile better, but he also has better linemates. Pettersson is much better at scoring but the possession numbers arent strikingly better. Sheary doesnt compare to Roussel, he compares to Goldobin, whom as well has slightly better possesion numbers, with better linemates than Okposo is.
