How important is winning a cup to Matthews. I expect even if offered 15 million for 7 years he will stay in Toronto for a great chance to win the cup. Cash rich Toronto can also offer a front loaded payment schedule that offsets lower pay via time value of money.

Even with all those trades you only a roster of 20. Even the Coyotes have cap restrictions. Just my opinion, Matthews isn't going to sign for the most money, if he doesn't like the team situation. Being a Leaf, or a least on contender means more money and certainly more fun than seven years as a Coyote.
