Rangers pass. You want them to take Callahan back, they'd set a guaranteed 1st rounder as the starting point

You're delusional if you think it would cost a 1st to dump Callahan.

He's 33, making 5.9 million, and has 11 points in 36 games. Somppi doesn't move the needle whatsoever. You'd need to pay someone to take Callahan, and Somppi doesn't do it

EDIT: Either I missed the 2nd in there, or it was changed. Regardless, Rangers would push for more

Fan of neither team, but can’t imagine that it would cost much more than a 2nd to dump Callahan.

It’ll cost a second max. Rebuilding teams would be more than happy to move up in the draft and take on a one year dump. It happened with Datsyuk, and that hardly cost anything.

The only difference was datsyuk wasn’t getting any salary. His contract was literally dead space which is perfect for low-budget teams. Callahan is still owed 4.7mil in real money next year.

It is interesting that moving up in the second or first round costs so much. Instead of that a team could just take Tampa's first and third + Callahan and send them a second.

you only have $300000 in space and short three players to a full roster. Some else has to go. , you need at least 2 mill to sign 3 cheap contracts.
