vesey alone will fetch a 2nd you will be looking at 2nds at least included or maybe both for the lowest 1st round pick from buffalo and san jose.

I would be ok with another second....the only issue is Buffalo doesn't have a 2019 second that will be in the 40's and low 20's first is just a little outside of what id be willing to pay. If I surrendered SJ's first, I would probably want to go after a bigger player

I like it for the Rangers. They get a decent return for players that might not be part of the long term plan and get to clear some cap

I was actually a little more interested in Strome than Vesey, although id love both because they are the right price and age. Strome has looked a little better in NY, and Buffalo he would likely get a big opportunity for more minutes. So far 9pts, 22 games in NY average 13 mins a game, positive possession player and relatively young and cheap. Not looking to him to be a long term answer as a 2C for this team, but he's good enough to be a band aid at the position splitting time with Mittelstadt and could probably still be my 3rd line center down the road plus maybe it all comes together and you luck out and he's a late bloomer and you get more than what you expect.

Sure it would be awkward for Vesey though to sign with NYR after Buffalo traded for his rights, but he's still a decent player who's the right age and right price and would provide a boost in the middle six LW, and I could probably move Conor Sheary over to RW where he was very productive in Pittsburgh which allows me to push down the older and slower Okposo and Pominville down the charts, although Pommer is still one of our better possession forwards

I like Strome quite a bit. He's not too flashy but he's an overall good player. It's a miracle they were about to get someone of his caliber for Spooner

I would really have a hard time parting with a first for Vesey with Strome. If I’m parting with a first then it’s got to be on a package for Hayes or Kreider.

I probably would rather take a bad contract back before I did that.

If I had a 2019 second, I probably would easily part with that instead of a third, unless NYR wants to wait until 2021
