Tweaks With Other Non-Contenders

Description
Some deals to shakeup the team with other non-contending teams (Besides NSH which is a playoff depth move.)

Florida has been rumored to be listening to offers on Bjustad. A bit of an up and down career, Bjustad could use a change of scenery. He is a massive C/RW that has scoring ability and good possession numbers that could at the very least take some pressure off of Mittelstadt. Putting him with veteran Okposo and other acquisition Johansson allows him skill and decent speed on his wings. In all honesty, I have no clue what Florida would be looking for for Bjustad. Changing the prospect to Asplund/ Guhle or just adding a pick to this wouldn’t be a huge bother for me.

New Jersey could use some defensive help on the left side with Greene getting older and only really Butcher as the other player. They get Scandella who’s having a tough year but has been solid in his career and a draft pick for a winger nearing UFA. Buffalo desperately needs a line other than the top one to start generating offense and Johansson brings secondary scoring with his next deal probably not looking too lucrative.

Blues are currently 11th last in point percentage and have been playing great hockey for more than a month. You’re gonna be picking this year.

Oh I didn’t realize they have been turning it around! The pick this year or next doesn’t bother me much

I would even suggest that if it's pick #8 9 10...they let it go. Can't risk an uprotected pick the following year like OTT! This draft is also very top heavy. It's not like last year where all top 10 had a serious shot at making their respective NHL rosters.

I mean, I agree with you, but that’s not gonna happen. If the Blues have their pick they’re gonna make it.

Everything I've read has said 2019 is an extremely deep draft. 3 1st rounder's this year would be great for the Sabres. I agree if the pick is in the 8,9,10 range STL wouldn't risk the lottery pick next year; you never know how a season can turn out with injuries, etc.

Bjugstad isn't a good enough skater for Botterill to give that much up for him

I guess I’m not sure, but how does it fare to Reinharts who isn’t also the fastest guy around? And ROR was by no means a strong skater and played well in our system

I guess "deep draft" is all relative. Last year "TOP HIGH END" talent was 1 - 10 with Dahlin being the clear #1. What I've read that it's 1 - 4. Hughes, Kappo, Dach, Coznes (with Hughes Kappo 1-2)….then it's a drop off. 5 - 15 is a team need pick your player.

Not in Botterill's system. Botterill/Housley had them both for a year and finished dead last. Botterill didn't draft Reinhart and traded ROR after a year. If Reinhart wasn't skilled enough to be a ppg player he'd be gone. Bjugstad is not that skilled. I'd also consider them both better skaters than Bjugstad and both produce much better than him

Yeah I don’t think ROR was moved because he couldn’t skate, it was more of a attitude/culture thing. I think the team’s “fast” mindset pertains to both good skating and/or fast skill ability. His point totals have been up and down in his career, but I could at least see him coming in as the 2/3C bridge until Mitts is ready for harder minutes. And he’s young enough to hang around if he ends up fitting well

I’d much rather pick this year. The Blues easily have enough talent that if they could pick in the 20s next year. It wouldn’t surprise me one bit. I’d be very happy with top 15
