Jets won't give up Vesalainen for a rental. The first would definitely be on the table but NYR would need to lower their sights on the prospect.

Gonna have to agree with you on this one, Vesalainen is probably your only "sure thing" on the wing and on his ELC. What do you think leaning more towards a guy like Appleton or Samberg?

Thinking Vesalainen is on the market for Hayes is delusional.

Samberg and 1st should be fine.

I could see the Jets willing to include Comrie. Brossiot has been excellent and is still RFA and Berdin appears to be on pace to push Comrie for #3 on the depth chart.

There will be a buyers market for Hayes. No doubt about it. I expect the Rangers not to be soft about incoming offers.

Yeah the trade as posted is overkill-- if for whatever reason Ves IS included, the first will not be.

And don't undervalue Hayes, His P/60 is in the top 40 and his rel GF% is 11th best in the league.

I get requiring an extension if you give up Ves which would mean Kulikov would have to be coming the rangers way for Claesson.

But I do get the jets reluctance to include him, it's the same that makes the rangers want him

Unfortunately for the Jets, they are in the market for a true rental. Anyone they sign will be gone in the offseason. Winnipeg needs guys like Vesalainen, Niku and Roslovic to be contributing players next year on ELCs so that they can throw the kind of money at Laine, Connor, and Trouba to get them to sign with term.

Vesalainen is an exciting prospect. Hayes could be that piece to put them into a cup final. The Jets could offer future considerations on a first round pick, if Hayes decides to sign with them. Or a second if he decides to test the market. Exactly what the Sharks did with Kane and the Sabres.

Av's have an influx of exciting prospects. It takes certain rental risks to come on top. Adding Zucc and Vladdy strengthen the top 2-3 lines.

Multiple NHL insiders have already said Avs are not trading their prospects for Rentals. Zucc and Vladdy dont solve anything. One is a UFA next year, and the other is a under preforming soon to be UFA after next season and arent worth the cost to resign them to inflated UFA deals.

Kaut wil be able to do the job or more than Vladdy next season so whats the point, Ranger fans need to get a grip and look at the greater picture for once. Teams arent going to part with their top assets for their expiring unwanted players. If they are that great they why are fans desperate to move them

My opinion is that the Avs won't make it out of the first round if they don't attempt to bolster their squad. Power houses like WPG,SJS,NSH,VGK will eat them up. I'm not saying Zucc and Vladdy is your answer but both have been to cup finals and would add veteran leadership to the young Avs core.

Avs are not trying to win the cup this year, their window hasnt even opened yet. They dont need to sacrafice prime young prospects, and not getting any better to solve their current issue. Unreliable goal tending.

So its a bad trade today, bad trade for the playoffs, and a bad trade into the future. It does really nothing for them

Funny part is that you're potentially going to draft Kappo or Hughes. Your prospect pool isn't going to run dry any time soon. I think the Avs are in a prime spot right now to be in a serious hunt for the cup this year. I think Sakic knows that as well. They won't be sitting back at the deadline, let me tell you that. They have a few prospects that can be use to acquire a top 6 forward. Hayes is one of them.

They are sitting back at the deadline, Avs insider and the big guys like Friedman have already said they wont be active. Try all you want but you wont get Avs top prospects.
Sakic said at the start of the year this is a see what we have season, they will be competitive but wont feel pressured to go for it, they are sticking to the plan
