Also - 95% of the deals on here that involve Kapanen have a very nice return coming back (1st rd picks, Top 4 D) - so I am not sure how you re-sign him for 2.5m. Same with Dermott.

Oh Jeez - I didn't even see the Pesce trade. There is ZERO chance that deal goes through. Zero. A bottom six forward and and low 2nd rd pick DO NOT get you a top 4 dman on a great deal.

All Leafs fans who started watching hockey when Matthews was drafted do is worry about the Matthews and Marner contracts, so yes I know they have to be signed this Summer. This file is for 2 years from now so it assumes the extensions occur this Summer.

What do you propose for the Kappy and Dermott contracts then?

2 months ago people were proposing Pesce, a 1st and a prospect for Nylander, so a middle 6 forward and a 2nd isn't too far off. Brown is an extremely underrated forward who can put up 10-15 (20 goals 16/17 szn) goals a season and will put up a decent amount of assists because he digs out the puck from the corners.

Why does Matthews get paid the second highest player in the league, and Marner the second highest RWer? Certainly not enough to obtain Pesce or Parayko.

There are several proposals on this site that trade Pesce for spare parts, but this one might be the worst. Carolina doesn't need four goals and a second-round pick. Pesce already has three this season while being the second-best defenseman on the team.

I don't mind the contracts that you've laid out for the next year but, all of the trades you proposed would be swiftly rejected by the other GMs. Couple stud defensemen in Parayko and Pesce but they give up a couple third line players and late draft picks? Realistically there needs to be way more value if St Louis and Carolina would even consider it. I'm also starting to believe with the way Zaitzev has been playing this year that he is practically untradeable at this point that 4.5 for the next 5-6 years is scary and no GM in there right mind would touch that.
