As a Detroit fan can I ask why you like Wild trade? I'm asking because I can't see a way that it benefits Detroit at all. Here is my logic:

Brodin is a solid defensive defenseman and if we are going to get a veteran defenseman that will take minutes from guys like Hronek, Sulak and Hicketts he better have offensive ability or it counter productive. From what I've heard Lindstrom has a good chance of making the team next year.

Ericksson is a AHL player a guy you can call up to cover if someone is hurt. Plus we have Joe Veleno and he will most likely make the team next year. Some thought he was more ready than Rasmussen and Zadina.

AA has played some of his best hockey at both ends of ice while playing center. So why does he still play wing? Because Blashill and him don't get along? I have no proof that they don't along, but it sure seems that way.

I can only hope Yzerman brings in a new coach with him when he takes over. Up until this season I thought you can't blame Blashill till he has some more talent to work with. But sitting Hronek who had a point streak going to play Ericsson just off the IR because he didn't want to tell Ericsson he was sitting because of a rookie. Why is Hronek in Grand Rapids when he is as good or better than half of the defenseman playing. He should be putting the best team possible on the ice regardless of personal feelings.

I'm assuming that we will have Cholowski, Green, Daley and Ericsson will be back. Kronwall retires and Jensen gets traded. I know trading Jensen isn't a popular decision but he is 28 and by the time Detroit is ready for a run at the cup he will probably retired or close to it. With how he has played this season his value is about as high as it will get, any closer to 30 his value will drop because of age alone.

I do like the Calgary trade.

The proposals from Toronto fans have made including The Wings have included Jensen and Kronwall for a good reason and that is there contracts are done at the end of this season. Toronto will have decisions to make about next seasons cap. Adding another player to add to that isn't something I see Toronto doing. With Kronwall mostly likely retiring and the end of the season gives them a solid defenseman for the playoffs. In the offseason he signs with Detroit and retires a Red Wing. With Jensen they aren't tied to him but his cap hit will be low enough they will be able to sign him.

I like them all. Brodin is an nhl defenseman which we don't have enough of. This team has been terrible at developing d men so I'll take him. Having too many back there isn't a problem. Love brown, Calgary deal is good. This one's a winner and more importantly improves the team short and long term.

The only trade I can really get behind is the CGY one. The TOR is good as well, I'd rather just have another pick instead of Brown tbh. The Minny trade I don't like at all. AA is having a career year... I'd want some sort of overpayment from MIN if we're getting rid of him. AA is one of our bright spots on this team, just doesnt make sense to get rid of him.

I don’t think the Minny trade makes sense for either team. The CGY trade I think you have to remove the 3rd round pick. TOR pick remove a 2nd or Brown, the values too in favor for DET

I don't think Detroit is going to be good next season maybe even miss the playoffs again which isn't really a bad thing. We traded away picks and prospects for far to long keeping the streak alive. We have a bunch of young defensemen that need a chance to prove them selves and that isn't going to happen if we keep adding veterans.

While Brodin is a solid defenseman I don't think he's worth $4m a season. Eriksson is a AHL player they could at least give a top 10 prospect but it really should be a top 5 prospect for AA. I do think AA could be a 30 or maybe even a 40 goal scorer if given a chance by playing center more often.

I agree about the young guys but you have dekeyser, green and brodin if you add him. then add cholo, hronek. I think Jensen gets moved and that leaves an open spot for whoever deserves it. I heard all this before with sproul and oulette and smith and none of them turned into anything. ill take my chances. I agree they aren't a playoff team next year and thats ok.

That is a very very good point. Most of the players in our farm system at that time were what was left after buying at every trade deadline and when we did keep draft picks they were all late round picks. One article referred to our farm system is full of mediocre talent.
Now we actually have some talent Cholowski and Hronek will be on next seasons starting roster. The Wings also have Sulak and Hicketts that have shown promise. There are a lot of people in Europe that have been impressed with Lidstrom’s progress and think he’s ready for the next step which probably be the AHL for a year. Both McIsaac and Regula have a season of juniors left but both of them are playing really well this season.
To sum it up I just think we should give these guys a chance before we go out and spend money, players, picks or prospects on players that we might not need.
