As a Detroit fan can I ask why you like Wild trade? I'm asking because I can't see a way that it benefits Detroit at all. Here is my logic:
Brodin is a solid defensive defenseman and if we are going to get a veteran defenseman that will take minutes from guys like Hronek, Sulak and Hicketts he better have offensive ability or it counter productive. From what I've heard Lindstrom has a good chance of making the team next year.
Ericksson is a AHL player a guy you can call up to cover if someone is hurt. Plus we have Joe Veleno and he will most likely make the team next year. Some thought he was more ready than Rasmussen and Zadina.
AA has played some of his best hockey at both ends of ice while playing center. So why does he still play wing? Because Blashill and him don't get along? I have no proof that they don't along, but it sure seems that way.
I can only hope Yzerman brings in a new coach with him when he takes over. Up until this season I thought you can't blame Blashill till he has some more talent to work with. But sitting Hronek who had a point streak going to play Ericsson just off the IR because he didn't want to tell Ericsson he was sitting because of a rookie. Why is Hronek in Grand Rapids when he is as good or better than half of the defenseman playing. He should be putting the best team possible on the ice regardless of personal feelings.
I'm assuming that we will have Cholowski, Green, Daley and Ericsson will be back. Kronwall retires and Jensen gets traded. I know trading Jensen isn't a popular decision but he is 28 and by the time Detroit is ready for a run at the cup he will probably retired or close to it. With how he has played this season his value is about as high as it will get, any closer to 30 his value will drop because of age alone.
I do like the Calgary trade.
The proposals from Toronto fans have made including The Wings have included Jensen and Kronwall for a good reason and that is there contracts are done at the end of this season. Toronto will have decisions to make about next seasons cap. Adding another player to add to that isn't something I see Toronto doing. With Kronwall mostly likely retiring and the end of the season gives them a solid defenseman for the playoffs. In the offseason he signs with Detroit and retires a Red Wing. With Jensen they aren't tied to him but his cap hit will be low enough they will be able to sign him.
