Value of barzel: David Perron in the 2015 season wink
But, in all honesty, I would make the Perron for 1st Trade 10 times out of 10. Perron landed us hagalin, and hagalin was a KEY part of our 2016 Stanley cup run on the HBK line; and a very good supporting player in the 2017 Stanley cup run. Without hagalin we may not have won the 2016 cup, and thus not have won the 2017 cup as well. I’m not gonna mess with the butterfly effect there haha. Sure having Barzel on this team would be a dream, but so is having back to back Stanley cups

Younger players have much better value nowadays than they used to, so logically the Penguins would have to offer Guentzel + for Islanders to even begin to think about it. If pigs had wings I would have to offer a package of Guentzel, Zach Aston Reese, 2019 1st Rounder and another high prospect or high pick. Malkin > Barzal obviously but Barzy is 10 years younger and can lead that team to the playoffs before even hitting the legal drinking age.

Pittsburgh best prospect is Hallander. Even adding him to that prosposal of Guentzel, Aston-Reese, 2019 1st and Hallander doesn't get Barzal.
Barzal is an elite #1C with insane speed and playmaking ability that makes every player around him better. He's a career point per game player at only 21 years old. Plus he's still on his ELC for this season and next season. Islanders will lock him up to term and big money after that.
I know this theoretical idea is just for fun, but realistically his value is incredibly high. He's on a young team that isn't looking to be a serious contender right now. So veterans from Pittsburgh won't be enough. Even just for fun, Pittsburgh doesn't have nearly close to the assets to get him.
It would take a young player that may not be as good as him, but has the upside. + a first rounder or two. Plus a young, good defensive prospect.

Guzental certainly isn’t better than Barzel, nor is he particularly close. With that being said, Guzental has found a great chemistry with Crosby and is poised to put up 30+ goals and around 80 points this season. My bet on Barzel playing with Sid is he’d get around 90 points. The cost to upgrade from Guzental to Barzel wouldn’t be worth the “10 ish” point increas between players. Not to mention Guzental is playoff proven and signed to a great extension already. Guzental on isles would probably only get around 60, but he’s found a knack on Crosby’s line (similar to Kunitz). It just wouldn’t be worth the price to upgrade imo
