does it come with an extension? I'd give up a fair amount. What are you interested in?

I don't think PHI is interested on negotiating either of those contracts. They already have to worry about needing contracts for a bunch of young guys, not to mention Seattle will already get a good player from us. This would just be a another player we feel as thoughw e have to protect, thus exposing another young talented player.

Any player selected in the 1st round in the past 5 drafts and/or Philippe Myers and/or 2020 1st rounder

I could see that. I know personally, I'd do it as long as the pick is top-10 protected like most picks nowadays. Maybe Rubtsov/1st, O'Brien/1st, etc. I don't see them moving Myers honestly but I'd venture to say most prospects would be in play if Stone came with an extension.

what young talented player are you concerned with losing in the expansion at this point? Your point just doesnt make much sense imo. If we are worried about losing someone like Lindblom in two years and that deters you from trading for Stone then the GM should be fired and we can start a new search haha.

More like Patrick, Konecny, Sanheim, Myers, Ghost, Provorov + the regulars in G, Couts, Voracek, Hart. ... and that doesnt include JVR, Lindblom, or Morin (a former 1st rounder) who would all be exposed.

Not to mention 8.5 mill + for either one of those guys. Of the 8-10 million in space left, you need to sign the following: Patrick, TK, Sanheim, Myers, Provorov all need contracts within 2 years...

Don't you think that is stretching it pretty thin?

No I don't. I think you're forgetting you get to keep 7/3/1 if you want. Protect Stone, TK, Patrick, G, Lindblom, Coots, JvR. Use Jake's high cap hit as an auto protection spot. You were never going to protect all the dmen so if you're "budgeting" for them it's pointless. Idk where you get your numbers from but they have $35M in cap space next year. So no they aren't stretching thin even by adding Stone or Duchene, imo. Honestly I'm just not losing sleep over guys like Lindblom when we have probably 10 prospects with similar upside and are already better skaters. Team would be way better off adding Stone now. If letting the worry of a replaceable player getting taken in the expansion prevents you from adding a Selke level winger then that's malpractice on the franchises part.

Honestly, I hope you're right. reading this made me feel better about the position we're in. I think a lot of the franchise feels like they "owe it" to guys like lindblom, myers, morin, etc to integrate them. Especially because the Hextall regime preached keeping the kids over ever taking a chance... and nothing ever happened. The only thing that I still doubt, is that if Voracek is unprotected, he will likely be taken by Seattle. But at this point, there are worse things that could happen...

I don't see Seattle taking a 32 or 33 year old 7 or 8 million dollar voracek or jvr honestly. And someone like Rubstov, Farabee, Frost, Laczynski, Wade, Ratcliffe, etc., Etc. Should be able to replace the loss of a Lindblom or whoever. The problem is defense. But there are ways to pay them to take someone else. I just can't fathom passing up a chance at Stone because we are worried about an expansion draft in 2 or 3 years. Those players are rarely available. You add them now and worry about that.problem when the time comes.
