In terms of straight picks, I don't think you will get more than that. If you prefer a different deal, sure, but I don't think you will get two firsts and a second and anything else.

I disagree. Maybe you have to make a different deal, but I highly doubt any deal contains two first rounders, a second, and then some. Take out the 2020 first, add some prospects, or get rid of both 2020 picks and add a mix of young NHLers and prospects maybe, but not those three picks and then more.

I think Prospects would be needed as well.

You think the final trade for Stone will include two first rounders, a second rounder, AND prospects, as in multiple ones? Who is paying that price?

No. Ottawa is lacking 3 areas. All three Calgary has:

1- A 2019 1st round pick
2- A good defensive prospect (RHD)
3- A young roster forward.

Maybe add a later round pick in 2020 (5th in 2020).

So Stone -> Calgary

2019 1st round pick, Bennet/Janowski (example), Andersson/Killington (example).

You can then maybe add a cap dump for an extra early round pick (Frolik/Neal).

Yep I agree with you KH44, I think people forget that Stone is a pending UFA. There is no guarantee he signs in Ottawa and they would otherwise lose him for much less if they don't trade him at the TDL, so they lose a lot in trade negotiations as a result. Yeah he's good but with no guarantee he signs an extension with the team he's being traded to, there is no way Ottawa will get more than that for him.... and even then.

Two 1sts and a 2nd would literally get you any "pure" rental to have ever been made available in the modern era of hockey 2000-present. In fact the only time two outright 1sts were included in a TDL trade was for Martin St Louis back in 13-14 but TB also included a 2nd rounder going back the other way, St Louis still had another year left on his contract after that TDL and St Louis is not only an all star but a future HOF.

Yeah, Stone is going to get more than two 1sts and a 2nd? Yeah right. Unless he agrees to sign an extension in principle once the trade is struck, no way he gets more than that. It really hinges on his future contract.

That makes sense, and is close to one of the other trade proposals I put out (They are titled Mark Stone Part 1, Part 2, and Part 3)
This trade proposal was the full, long term, all pick option. If it is a prospect, player and a pick, I have 2019 1st, Jankowski, Kylington, Gawdin. Czarnik can be added as he was sought after by lots of teams, but it doesn't seem to working in Calgary (even though I believe he is better than Hathaway, Magniapaine who keep getting time ahead of him)

I'll have to take a look.

I fully expect Stone and Duchene to go out west. Calgary, Nashville and Winnipeg are all suitors. There are also cheaper options than Stone to fill your needs at forward. Think Dzingel, who is only going to cost you a 1st round pick and maybe a later pick/or prospect (ex: Dzingel for a 1st in 2019 and a 5th in 2020).

A first and something else is a big price for Dzingel. I highly doubt Ottawa picks up a first and something else for him.

I thought this was with an extension if not this is big overpay.

With extension you gonna need to add +prospect for him without that's an overpayment.

Well that's not true. It depends on the price. If Ott is not resigning him and no one is biting on their Ott's asking price, his price will come down. If you are a team like WPG, wouldn't trade for him just for the playoffs and give a 1st and Petan? I would. In a heart beat.
