Why would an upcoming team like Colorado trade away a young, highly skilled, talented D for a declining player with a bad contract and Brian Bickell? 0 chance

mhockey91 is correct. And that troublesome NTC for Seabrooke, doubt if moves from Chicago (or Crawford, Toews, Kane) Bridge deals are not the norm now especially for good players. With that type of money you offered Shaw and Barrie would get better offer sheets from other teams without having to pay crippling compensation.

because colorado is lacking experience, that will get them over the hump. and declining? he had his best season of his career this year. with the long offseason, and an increased role, he will put up even better numbers.

I'm pretty sure they're trying that experiment right now with Francois Beauchemin and it's not working out all that well. Also, as a VERY long side note...It's always interesting to me how others view defensemen in the NHL. I'm sure I'm in the minority (for some reason) but I think defensemen should be more held accountable for the goals against and NOT just the points. I DON'T think Seabrook had his best year despite scoring the most points in his career, but I also believe the only reason EK deserves to be in the Norris conversation is due to the insane minutes he played all year long and BTW he didn't deserve his last one. I'm a Hawks, and a Seabrook fan, but what he brings needs to be more than points. It's the question "why did your goalie have the best year of his career and your +/- is below average? It's because he was paired with everyone under the sun and they're all new. For most of the year he was given TVR of Gus. I expect him to be back to his old self next year, but Points for D-men aren't gospel...
