Bjugstad was already traded once, so he's not getting traded again. He's playing very well and a versatile player with years left on his contract. Riikola is a solid young dman and would be playing every night if the pens didnt sign Jack Johnson this past summer. Both Bjugstad and Riikola are better than what the Sabres are sending back. McCabe is an older version of Riikola and Girgensons isn't good and would be a 4th liner on pittsburgh

Uhh McCabe is the same age and a much better player than Riikola. And McCabe and Bjugstads analytics are comparable for the year.

Age aside, Riikola has only played 33 games in his career and played very well, especially getting time with Jack Johnson. McCabe has played 260 and really hasn't done much. Why would pittsburgh trade Riikola when he could potentially be better? You cant compare analytics of a dman to a forward, it just doesn't make sense
