the Chicago trade is a no.
I don't think carolina him for so little. Especially if they are still in the hunt.

Problem with carolina as a trade partner for any team is what columbus does.
If they trade out panarin and bob and basically tank the year away, it leaves a path for someone to come in, That could be carolina.

Carolina says no, the asking for Ferland is a prospect and 1st.
Either way, since we are still in the hunt, he might just be our rental for the season.

Quite the opposite.

No one is taking that $6M cap hit without being paid to do it. Chicago is not getting a 1st for Saad unless they retain, considerably.

For Pittsburgh specifically, this deal doesn't work because Saad's horrible cap eats up the cap space needed for Guentzel's raise.
