Florida might do the deal, the washington deal is very unlikely the caps would expect a little more from the jackets.
Good try

Ya the Caps trade was more or less just thinking outside the box from the usual talked about landing spots for Breadman.

I can't see Florida losing a possible lotto pick and Hoffman for a guy they have a good shot at in free agency.

Good luck, The Caps wont be able to afford to resign Panarin. He'll easily be looking at 7 x 10 if not more.

If you like a player enough you make room. Even if it were for a rental that’s a damn good rental for a push to repeat.

True that. Panarin to the Caps makes far too much sense.

The value is there if those were signed for longer time. But since the said players are just about to become UFAs, their trade value is lower. The realistic return for them is probably just a half from the offered. Like, CBJ would be pretty lucky if they could get Burakovsky+Samsonov+1st from WSH for Panarin, and FLA would be pretty lucky if they get Brassard+1st for Bob.

Panarin and Ryan Murray for Burakovsky and Niskanen? That could open up cap space to extend Panarin, if Murray doesn't need a big raise. Niskanen is still better than Murray, but who knows for how much longer. Same with Panarin and Burakovksky, so it might be fair, once Burakovsky starts getting top six minutes and top power play time and showing what he's actually capable of. The Jackets get two guys who just won a Cup and get out of a UFA negotiation with a guy who sounds like he needs to move on. The Caps get a big roster shake up and someone who can do a cool "bird man" celebration after he scores a goal. smile

Ok, so the Jackets are going to trade Panarin to a division rival, when the Jackets are battling that said team for a playoff spot? No. On top of that, the return is ridiculously bad.

Jackets have to trade Panarin and Bob or risk losing them for nothing yet when they do trade them their Cup chances are gone and they aren’t even one of the stronger contenders anyways. If I were the Jackets I’d try to get better for next season and beyond because those 2 guys just screwed your chances of going deep.

Burakovsky is 8th in his draft class in goals, so far, just between Drouin and Mantha. Picked in the same draft as Duclair and Bjorkstrand, he has exactly as many even strength goals as both of them, put together. He is third in the class of 2013 in playoff points. Burakovsky alone, long term, is worth a rental on Panarin.

Samsonov is not going anywhere. Better chance you get Holtby.

Eller is the Caps leading forward in SHTOI this year, and second in faceoffs won. He also plays third line and often outscores some teams' second line centers.

Panarin is good, but the Caps have lost, a whole lot of games, lately. They're probably not taking on any rentals that cost more than a 4th round pick.

I have seen some offers of Wennberg to Washington, or of Duclair, Murray, or other long-term guys who might get some of the above pieces into discussion.
