I wouldn't Edmundson is very good defensively and Ghost isn't also I wouldn't trade Fabbri either I would only give mid-tier prospects for this.

He's been really subpar the past 5-10 games. Ghost would be an elite offensive defenseman to add on a quality contract. I know you love Fabbri, but he hasn't shown anything this year unfortunately. Ghost is an upgrade over Edmundson.

I'm not a big fan of this deal from the Flyers point of view. It's a very reasonable offer though. There's pains and gains to be felt on both sides so it's a good hockey trade drawn up here. Just not seeing enough gains on the Flyers side. Especially with Edmundson and Fabbri heading for RFA status when Ghost is signed reasonably long-term.

Ghost has 25 pts on the year and is a -17. Dunn has 23 points on the year and is a plus 10. I know plus-minus isn't the best stat but is relevant for defensemen, but I'd rather keep our assets and let Dunn grow into a Ghost type d-man.

But you are wanting to add another Alex Pietrangelo who is already terrible at defense.

Sure, but also the Flyers have been pretty ****ty or inconsistent all year. I don't think +/- is relevant for anyone. If you look at advanced stats, he's an elite defenseman.

Hmmm, do I need to pull up a bunch of videos of all the times he gave turnovers or didn't play defense and gave up goals. Stop protecting him we have our weaknesses. Pietrangelo's defense is a weakness.

Sure, but there's also plenty of videos of him stripping the puck from someone in the corner and making a bullet outlet pass that leads to a break. Or him picking off a pass from someone trying to rim it out around the boards.

We can agree to disagree here.

When teams are in transition Pietrangelo gives up more goals than in the corners.

Gotcha - still disagree. Elite players are going to have more turnovers than other players as they're trying to make plays. We just happen to watch Pietrangelo constantly. The same can be said for many other elite players. John Carlsson is similar in that way.

Regardless, I think Ghost and Petro are very different players.

As much as having Ghost on the Blues excites me, especially on the powerplay, like someone said above, Dunn is on pace to be another Ghost. Every team needs at least one RHD and one LHD that are defense-first defensemen. Eddy is just that for the Blues. Bortz is that kind of player, but Petro is solid and Parayko is a beast defensively, so if the Note were to add an offensive defenseman, I'd prefer it be a RHD. The trade proposed is very solid, but acquiring Ghost would require the Blues to go out and find a good defensive LHD.
