I was thinking very along the same lines as that, I think if the pick comes out I would like to see a little retention on the Allen contract.

Lol if you guys think Pietrangelo is a little more defensive lol. He has given up the most goals for the team as a defenseman than anyone else.

Change of scenery could be very good for him.

Depends on if a team is willing to pay up. I know that the Blues want a lot for him.

Watch TJ brodie for one game... he is behind the play in his own zone, he gets burnt wide very easily and loses defensive side positioning. He belongs on a second pairing with a defensive specialist, he is exposed nightly against top pairings that he has to play against because he plays with Giordano. Pietrangelo with Giordano would have a lot of that defensive part of his game hidden just like Dougie Hamilton did.

But isn't that because of a bunch of different reasons...he plays close to 24 min a game and STL doesn't have either A.) a goalie OR B.) 1 solid left defensemen?

Blues would say no. Mike Smith sucks as much as Allen. Their first isn't much. Brodie is good, but not that good. And Mangiapane is a middle 6 guy.

So then imo I wouldn't do this trade that's downgrading Pietrangelo lmao.

Edmundson and Dunn are solid just room for growth. I would call Binnington a goalie. 10-1-1 .923 sv pct and a 1.82 GAA. very solid stats imo.

No doubt STL is playing better hockey as of late. I tend to be harder on new goalies (I guess compared to most) because VERY few of them turn out to be solid starters...even if they start out hot. Same with my team! Delia is playing great, but let's see what happens when teams start finding holes in his game. All goalies have strengths/weaknesses it's just how well can they adjust. I'm not a big Dunn fan, but Edmundson is indeed a nice player. 19:51 ATOI as 25 year old player...I'll give you that one.

Dunn has been better at playing Defense than he has in previous years. Dunn has also chipped in, in scoring. He has like 2 Goals in the past week, So I have to give to him. I like him a lot.

Delia I like him he is a promising young starter right now, but as for Binnington as long as he is getting the job done I am good with it for now. I would like to get a Veteran Backup as insurance for if Binnington does do bad in future games.

I was thinking more like Semyon Varlamov or Sergei Bobrovsky. Maybe even Jimmy Howard. Not a huge fan of Cam Ward lol. from being a former goalie I don't like his play style lol.

Less money, better offensive upside, Smith is off the books in the off season, Mangiapane is an NHL ready 3rd liner who is strapped to the fourth line in Calgary, late first round pick, give young d men 2 years do solidify before cracking the line up in STL. Tons of reasons to make the trade, if anyone focused on one point of every trade nothing would get done.

Yeah, I do think STL should be buyers. They have a good team and it's not like losing helps get a better draft pick really. I'd just be wary of giving away too much, but i total hear you on Ward. I'm just being selfish, there are other options.

Historically, he has been the best defensive defenseman for the Blues for years. He has struggled much throughout the year, but it could be because of just having triplets in the off season (somehow every player struggles after their wife gives birth). He's still a good defenseman and is better than Brodie

Taking care of 3 kids jeez. Yeah, I mean it's happened with Tarasenko 2016 Conference Finals he had a kid we got knocked off because he wasn't on top of his game.

Yeah, the 2nd round pick kills this one. If Calgary MUST have a pick in this trade, the best I'd offer is a 4th from the Note. I like your trade, and I agree with everything you say about how it helps Calgary. I am probably in the minority, but I suspect Jake Allen is not the loaf of bread he has been for a lot of this year. We've seen him dominate at times, and be solid for a good amount more. He's just been bad over the course of this season, but in the past six or so weeks, he's been decent. He's still young, and is probably one of the top 5-10 most athletic goalies in the NHL. It's his athleticism that gets him into so much trouble though. If he gets a change of scenery and perhaps hears a new voice from a different goalie coach (we've tried that though), I'd argue he could definitely be your backup.

I agree here, I think Calgary would take this trade even with a much lower pick than I have above, if the pick is completely removed like I mentioned in another comment I would like some retention over the course of Allen's contract. I really like Allen I think he has all the ability in the world and if he gets on a hot streak he is a really good goalie in this league. Thanks for the feedback.
