I guess I could get behind the Florida trade, but Stone isn’t much of a “playmaker” which the Isles need so I’d save Beau for a trade for Panarin.

The Kings trade is just a trip. Why?

If Kovalchuk is willing to go to NY, then we might take Nelson plus Bellows/a first/two seconds. We don't want Aho or Quenneville and double-don't-want Ladd and his cap hit for the next half-decade.

That's an insane amount for a guy who's 35 years old and isn't playing well. I'd only want him if they take Ladd's contract.

Fine! The poster seemed to think Kovalchuk would be a great asset for the Islanders, and I was accepting that premise.

We need a shoot first player. Our whole team consists of playmakers

Ladd makes less than Kovalchuk and you'd be able to leave him available for expansion draft to rid the team of him then. If they weren't taking Ladd then I'd say Nelson, Aho, 2nd rd pick and $2 mil retained. Nelson gets flipped for more picks/prospects and Kings are freed of $4 mil on the cap. Put that towards a run at Panarin in July.

I'd be willing to still take him if they retained enough salary to bring his cap hit to $4 mil or less. The most they can retain is $3.12 mil per. I was just going with the rumors that seem to be swirling about his agent and Lou being in touch again the last few days. He wants to go to a playoff contending team in the Eastern Conference. Due to the length of his contract it really only leaves the Islanders, Bruins, Canadiens and Blue Jackets as possible spots. Bruins could be the one with Pastranak hurt. I would never count out the Canadiens who are very young and would definitely rejuvenate Kovy. And hey, imagine the Blue Jackets talk to the Kings and say hey Panarin for Kovalchuk and Toffoli? It gives them a goal scorer for now and figure out Kovy later, while also adding depth with Toffoli who is still under a nice cap hit for next season. Should be interesting!

No way Lou trades TWO guys off his current roster. Plus, Trotz LOVES Brock Nelson. What Trotz wants, Trotz gets. MAYBE Beau goes (don't see it) but definitely don't see Brock going. Also what's the point in trading a second round pick for a guy you have as a scratch?
