If EDM has the 2nd overall pick as it's said in the description they won't move it. Especially not for that return.

Considering the fact they need to add depth to their team and get rid of some contracts, I bet they'd like this trade. Also, since Kakko might be the 2nd overall pick, EDM have some sort of bad history with top picks (especially top finn picks), which means they'll have that in mind

Despite that the value of that 2nd overall pick is so high that EDM could easily demand Drouin++ - and still dump Lucic at the same trade.

Montreal is one of the faster teams, physically Lucic doesn't fit Montreal's style of play. I understand they get the 2nd overall to take his contract but it isn't a great fit.

Edmonton isn't ready to compete and this trade doesn't change that. Instead of giving away their 1st (a potential top 5 pick) to get rid of a contract they should hold onto Lucic and hope he rebuilds some kind of value.

Im a blackhawks fan, paying people to take bad contracts is not a great strategy to stay competitive.

They're receiving some great assets too though
