I would like to think this is a trade with extension in the works. If Hayes intends to test the market then it wouldn’t be worth it. Stars need a 2C moving into next season. I believe these moves would work well towards the cap next season.

There could be more moving parts here. It all depends on value for each club.

As a Detroit fan you're offering too much of what doesn't need. Holland wants a 1st for Gus. Detroit has a long jam at D and realistically could have all our starters back next year and 2 prospects that are as good or better than about half our current D and Detroit is set when it comes to centers. But I think if you offer a good wing prospect and a 2nd would work.

For DET to trade both Green and Nyquist to Dallas, I suspect it would look this way:

DET send Nyquist (50% retained) and Green ($1.0mm retained), and a 5th round pick.

Dallas sends Nichushkin, Janmark, Ritchie, and one of Dellandrea, Gurianov, or Robertson, and a 2nd round pick.

The cap implications of both Green and Nyquist is pretty big. Moving those roster pieces is how to make it work. I doubt Dallas wants to move that many bodies.

I just updated when you responded. I chose Gurianov, Honka, Nichushkin, and two picks.
