Trading a 1st round pick a year in advance is always a bad idea, CC: Ottawa Senators.

Adding 2 rentals the Leafs cant afford instead of a 1st round pick for next years deadline when they can actually resign the UFA sounds like a better idea.

Once again because Elliott is not an upgrade over Sparks or Hutch. I would love to have Simmonds as a Leaf. Not for that price! I would love to have Doutzen Kroes as my girlfriend too... Geez...

When you say Elliott is not an upgrade you lose all credibility. And a 4th liner (Brown) isn’t worth what you Leafs fans think.

So who is the goalie help? Very comparable stats. Believe Sparks has lost five games this year, and in four of them the Leafs scored one goal.

Flyers also have one of the worst Combined D in the league. Elliott is for sure better than the 2 guys you have backing up Andersen. You can’t honestly tell me you would feel more comfortable with those guys over Elliott if Andersen went down.

Value seems fair but I just din’t See any use for Elliot. I’m not very high on Simmonds either but couldn’t hurt in a playoff run.

You're right about both players.
I think some other NHL contenders would be more enthralled with Simmons than the Leafs. Meaning who does Simmons replace on the Leafs wing that makes the Leafs better? If anything the Leafs would be trade for Dman, but even then who can the Leafs really get a a reasonable value that is better than they have now?
