Why does CBJ trade anything to get an UFA? Ottawa would be a lot better off, trading Duchene for futures and not or Scanella and then have 4m in cap space.
Girgensons should not be playing in the NHL this year, his previous year and in the future.

CBJ has been linked to Duchene forever. If they think they can sign him, they use futures and cap space moved from a Panarin trade to secure him. Plus CBJ is still in the hunt for a playoff race, and Duchene can replace Panarin as there main offensive weapon, but they actually can sign him. Again, this has all been reported.

Girgensons is a 4th LW. 18-20pts and good shot suppression. He’ll find an NHL job.

I don't think CBJ needs to add. They are already giving up a 1st, Carlsson, and Wennberg for a guy who is leaving Ottawa one way or another.

Also: Wennberg’s passing ability would work really well with Skinner if you wanted to try something new.

Again CBJ isnt adding theyre paying q 1st Wennberg and Carlsson, Sabres arent getting Wennberg for a 2nd 3rd Girgensons and Scandella, thats 2 cap dumps a 3rd which has little value and a 2nd. Girgensons is going to have to be a much more intersting prospect even just for Wennberg straight up

What about Wennbergs recent production/ice time makes you think that losing his cap hit would be better for the Blue Jackets.

A 2nd and a decent prospect (Asplund looks about right from what weve seen from him so far). Girgensons doesnt have much value, 3rds dont have value, and Scandella is an overpaid dime a dozen player

No I know Scandella has little to no value. But OTT is going to need salary to reach the floor, and veteran D like Scandella are marketable as rentals. Ron Hainsey went for a 2nd. But a 2nd, Asplund and Scandella seems right for taking AW and dumping Scandella.
